Donnie was hired to be the martial arts choreographer for the 2000 movie "Highlander: Endgame", and he impressed them so much that they gave him a cameo in the movie. He played the character Jin Ke, and fought against Duncan MacLeod in one of the best scenes in the movie.

In the movie, Donnie plays Cheng Do, the second son of a rich merchant, and is highly skilled with martial arts. When he accidentally brain damages a young man in a fight, the family seeks revenge by murdering Cheng's whole family. Cheng runs away but an assassin is hired to kill him. Cheng meets a puppeteer who teaches him Tai Chi, and he uses his new skill to defeat the assassin.

Contrary to popular belief, Donnie did not play the title character, which went to Yu Rongguang. Donnie played Wong Kei-ying, the father to the famous Wong Fei-hung, who in this movie was actually played by a girl called Angie Tsang.

In the movie, Wong Kei-ying and his son travel into town and get entangled with the Iron Monkey (a Robin Hood-type hero). Wong believes the Iron Monkey is a vigilante and tries to apprehend him. At the end, they both team up to defeat a group of rogue Shaolin monks.

Donnie Yen played a swordsman who helped two young men and two young women to find this sword, which was guarded by the Lord of Armour played by Jackie Chan.

Jackie Chan's real life son Jaycee Chan also starred in this action fantasy.

Donnie Yen played Guan Yu in "The Lost Bladesman".

In the movie, Guan Yu was separated from his oath brother and liege lord, Liu Bei. He temporarily helped the Prime Minister Cao Cao in the Battle of Baima. Cao Cao was very impressed with Guan Yu's skills and hoped he would stay by his side. Guan refused and rode off to find Liu Bei. Assassins were sent to slay Guan Yu, but it was later revealed that it was the Emperor who wanted Guan Yu to die, not Cao Cao.

Guan Yu was a valiant general in the Three Kingdoms period. He became oath brothers with Liu Bei and Zhang Fei, and fought in a civil war that ravished China. One of the most famous conflicts was The Battle of Red Cliff.

Many Chinese communities still worship Guan Yu today with shrines and temples inside homes and businesses. The Hong Kong Police Force and organised crime syndicates both worship him.

For reference, "14 Blades" was set in the Ming Dynasty, "An Empress and the Warriors" was set in the Ten Kingdoms period, and "Bodyguards and Assassins" was set in the Qing Dynasty.

In this funny movie, Leung mistook another woman, Charmy, for Wing Chun, and was confused why Wing Chun had changed so much. When he found out the truth, he helped Wing Chun to defeat the baddie who had kidnapped Charmy. At the end Leung and Wing Chun eventually married.
