Vizzini, Fezzik and Inigo have taken Buttercup captive and are sailing towards the Cliffs of Insanity. As they sail, Inigo keeps looking behind them. Vizzini, annoyed, asks him why.

Fezzik and Inigo hear Westley's scream in the village - the sound of ultimate suffering - and follow it to the grove where the secret entrance to the Pit of Despair is. They find Westley dead, as Fezzik confirms by putting his ear to Westley's chest to listen for a heartbeat. Inigo responds, "It just is not fair." From there, they go to find Miracle Max.

As Prince Humperdinck and Count Rugen are examining the traces of the cliff-top duel, Count Rugen asks the Prince the question, to which Humperdinck responds, "I always think everything could be a trap - which is why I'm still alive."

Valerie is upset at her husband, Miracle Max, "I'm not a witch, I'm your wife. But after what you just said, I'm not even sure I want to be that anymore."

Billy Crystal's character replies "You never had it so good." Valerie goes on to try to convince her husband to help, but he doesn't until Inigo says that helping Westley will hurt Humperdinck.

After explaining to Buttercup how he became the Dread Pirate Roberts, Westley asks her if she understands everything. This happens immediately before the lightning sand incident.

Inigo has found the Count Rugen, the six-fingered man. Unexpectedly, though, Rugen flees from Inigo's challenge and leaves a locked door behind him. Unable to breach the door, Inigo asks for Fezzik's help. Fezzik, though, has Westley, who is still too weak to walk, and protests, "I can't leave him alone."

Inigo and Westley are duelling atop the Cliffs and Westley begins to get the better of Inigo. Inigo makes this statement shortly before revealing that he is not, in fact, left-handed. The fight continues from there with Inigo using his right hand, and beginning to gain advantage - until Westley does the same thing.
