Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Harry apparated for the first time in his life. Dumbledore brought him to a Muggle village. What was Dumbledore's intention of bringing him to meet Horace Slughorn?

Answer: To convince Horace to return to Hogwarts and teach there

Harry and Dumbledore entered Horace's home and found that the house was in a total mess. Horace disguised himself as an armchair. Eventually, the dragon blood gave it away and Dumbledore knew that the armchair was indeed, none other than Horace himself.

Horace claimed that he needed to do so to protect himself from the Death Eaters who were now lurking around everywhere, causing troubles and injuring people. Dumbledore introduced Harry to Horace and clarified his intention of visiting him - he wanted him to come out of his retirement and go back to teach at Hogwarts.

At first, Horace turned down the offer, however, after his conversation with Harry, he had a second thought and eventually agreed to do so.
2. Professor Horace Slughorn was the new Potions Master at Hogwarts. In one of his classes, he offered the class a phial of Felix Felicis to the student who could brew the perfect potion. In the end, Harry got the phial. What kind of potion was Felix Felicis?

Answer: A good luck potion

Professor Severus Snape, who previously taught Potions, was the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Professor Horace Slughorn replaced Snape as the new Potions Master.

Both Harry and Ron were informed by Professor McGonagall that they could take N.E.W.T. Potions with Slughorn.

One day, Harry and Ron attended Slughorn's Potions class. Their task was to brew a perfect potion and the instruction could be found in their textbooks. Realizing that Harry and Ron had not bought their textbooks, Professor Slughorn said they could use the books from the bookshelves temporarily.

Harry got a very old potion book. He found that some of the instructions in the book had been modified by the book owner. Harry flipped through the book to find a writing stating that the book belonged to the Half-Blood Prince. Harry had no idea who this Half-Blood Prince was.

While everyone was having trouble and struggling to brew the perfect potion, Harry brewed his potion by simply following the modified instructions in his book. In the end, he won the phial of Felix Felicis potion. According to Professor Slughorn, Felix Felicis was a good luck potion - whoever drank that potion would be very lucky for at least two hours.
3. Professor Slughorn loved to be surrounded by talented students. He invited these students for dinner at his place occasionally. Which of the following people did he NOT invite?

Answer: Ronald Weasley

Slughorn invited Harry Potter because Harry was undeniably one of the most famous persons in Hogwarts - he defeated Voldemort several times and also Harry was The Chosen One.

On the other hand, Ginny Weasley survived the Tom Riddle's diary incident during her first year at Hogwarts.

Hermione Granger was known for her intelligence. Even though she was a Muggle-born, she was the top student in her year.

Dumbledore knew very well the fact that Professor Slughorn liked these talented students. Harry was informed by Dumbledore that he would be a very valuable asset to obtain a very useful and crucial memory from Slughorn.
4. Throughout the movie, Draco Malfoy was seen sneaking into the Room of Requirement to perform some experiments on a special item. First, he experimented with an apple, and then a bird for the second time. What was the item called that he placed these things in?

Answer: The Vanishing Cabinet

Before returning to Hogwarts, Harry, Ron and Hermione followed Draco to Borgin and Burkes, a shop in Knockturn Alley that sold very dark magic items. Draco was seen together with some Death Eaters so Harry was quite sure that Draco was one of them, too.

Draco put an apple in the Vanishing Cabinet in the Room of Requirement. He closed it and murmured some charm. He opened the cabinet later to find a half-eaten apple.

On his second trial, he put a bird in the cabinet. He performed the same spell but to his disappointment, he found a dead bird when he opened the cabinet.

One day, Harry and Ginny went to the Room of Requirement to hide the potion book that belonged to the Half-Blood Prince. Ginny wanted Harry to do so because she believed the book had brought Harry more trouble than good.

During his battle with Dumbledore, Draco said there was another twin Vanishing Cabinet in Borgin and Burkes. He used the Vanishing Cabinet in the Room of Requirement to travel outside of Hogwarts, since Hogwarts was a protected ground and hence he could not apparate within the castle.
5. Who said the following line in this movie? "Why is it, that whenever anything happens, it's always you three?", in which Ron replied, "Believe me, Professor, I have been asking myself that same question for the past six year."

Answer: Professor McGonagall

On their way back from Hogsmeade to Hogwarts, Harry, Ron and Hermione witnessed a bizarre and terrifying incident. Their friend, Katie Bell was seen lifted from the ground and then swung violently from side to side. She was then dropped to the ground and collapsed. Bell's friend, who was also at the scene yelled and said she had told Bell not to touch the necklace.

Hagrid later sent Bell to the hospital wing. After asking several questions to Bell's friend, Professor McGonagall said she was free to go. Then McGonagall asked the trio cynically, "Why is it always you three when something happens?"

Upon examination, Professor Snape said Bell was very lucky because the necklace was an object of very dark magic and it could have killed Bell.

Later, it was revealed that the necklace was supposed to be sent to Dumbledore. It was a plotted murder to take the old man's life.
6. Lavender Brown was the obnoxious girl who admired Ron. One night, Ron told Harry that he was in love with a girl. Harry knew for sure he was talking about Lavender. Apparently, a girl sent Harry a box of chocolates with love potion in them and Ron ate the chocolate. Who was the girl?

Answer: Romilda Vane

Previously, Hermione told Harry that Romilda Vane had a crush on Harry when they were in the library.

Ron ate the chocolate that Romilda sent to Harry. Little did he realize that the chocolate contained a very strong love potion. As a result, he felt deeply in love with Romilda.

Harry knew something was wrong so he sought help from Professor Slughorn. Slughorn cured Ron and he offered him a glass of drink to refresh him. Ron collapsed immediately after drinking the glass of drink. Slughorn watched helplessly in terror while Harry acted wisely by putting a bezoar (a stone from a goat's stomach) in Ron's mouth to save him.

It was later revealed that the drink was supposed to be sent to Dumbledore but Slughorn intercepted the gift.
7. Harry found a spell in the Half-Blood Prince's potion book. He used the spell against Draco during their battle in the washroom. Much to his surprise, the consequence of the spell was deadly as Draco was injured badly. What was the spell?

Answer: Sectumsempra

Harry found the Sectumsempra spell in the potion book. He told Hermione about this before and had kept the spell to himself since.

One day, Harry was talking about the unfortunate incident that happened to Katie Bell in the Great Hall when he noticed that Draco left the hall in a hurry. Harry followed Draco to a washroom where they started a battle. They cast spells on each other and Harry used the Sectumsempra spell, which left Draco seriously injured.

Professor Snape arrived at the scene later and healed Draco.

Professor Snape eventually told Harry that he was the Half-Blood Prince during his battle with Harry when Harry used the same spell on him.
8. Harry's mother, Lily, once gifted Professor Slughorn a very special bowl. She put the bowl on Slughorn's desk. Slughorn noticed there was some water in the bowl and also a flower petal. He looked more closely and found that when the lily sank to the bottom of the bowl, it turned into a goldfish. What did Slughorn name the goldfish?

Answer: Francis

Professor Slughorn informed Harry that his mother, Lily Evans was a very gifted student, just like Harry himself.

Slughorn was in Hagrid's hut, consoling him over the death of Aragog (the giant spider). Aragog was one of Hagrid's favorite pets. Slughorn said he once had a pet as well and he named it Francis. He went on and described the process of the lily plant turning into a goldfish a beautiful magic.

One day, Slughorn found that Francis just disappeared from the bowl. It was also the day where Lily was killed by Voldemort.
9. Dumbledore brought Harry to a seemingly forbidden cave to find one of Voldemort's Horcruxes. Dumbledore made an ultimate sacrifice by drinking the potion in order to get the Horcrux. After Dumbledore's memorial, Harry was saddened by the fact that the Horcrux was a fake. What was the Horcrux?

Answer: A locket

A Horcrux was an object that someone could hide his or her soul in. A person would not die as long as all of the Horcruxes were not destroyed.

The much-feared Voldemort was known as Tom Riddle when he was still a student at Hogwarts. He came across the term in the library and he asked Professor Slughorn about this. Slughorn said in order to create a Horcrux, one needed to kill another person.

Voldemort created a total of seven Horcruxes. Harry had destroyed one of the Horcruxes, namely the diary in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secret". Also, Dumbledore destroyed another one - the ring.

Dumbledore believed he had found the location of the third Horcrux. He asked Harry to join him in his quest to get the third Horcrux. Harry found that the locket that they got from the cave was a fake. Harry found a note inside the locket, written by someone by the initial of R. A. B. This person addressed the note to the Dark Lord. The content of the note was as follows:

"To the Dark Lord, I know I will be dead long before you read this, but I want you to know that it was I who discovered your secret. I have stolen the real Horcrux and intend to destroy it as soon as I can. I face death in the hope that when you meet your match, you will be mortal once more."
10. After returning from the cave, Dumbledore was very weak and fragile, as a result from drinking the potion. Back at Hogwarts, Draco came and looked for Dumbledore. Draco said he had no choice but to kill Dumbledore because if he failed to do so, the Dark Lord would kill him instead. Who eventually killed Dumbledore with the "Avada Kedavra" spell?

Answer: Severus Snape

Earlier in the movie, Draco's mother, Narcissa and Bellatrix were meeting Snape at his house. There, Snape made the Unbreakable Vow. He vowed to protect and help Draco in his task.

Draco was pointing his wand at Dumbledore and he hesitated. Dumbledore said Draco was not a killer. Just then, Professor Snape arrived. Bellatrix and some Death Eaters were also there.

Snape eventually cast the deadly "Avada Kedavra" spell on Dumbledore. Harry witnessed the whole incident in disbelief as Dumbledore collapsed and died on the spot.
