Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Abbott and Costello were an original team. Not quite like the Three Stooges or Laurel and Hardy, but they were original. In what movie do we hear "Who's On First" routine?

Answer: The Naughty Nineties

Do me a favor and just read a short blurb on this hilarious script. Now imagine yourself in Costello's shoes. Poor guy, you feel so bad for him. All he wanted to know, who was on first base. "Yep, that's right."

Abbott: "No. Who's playing first."
Costello: "What's on base?"
Abbott: "What's on second."
Costello: "I don't know."
Abbott: "He's on third."
Costello: "There I go, back on third again!"
2. Donald O'Connor kept them laughing in this movie singing, "Make 'Em Laugh". His comedy routine was so funny. He would trip and fall at just the right times. In what musical did he perform this number?

Answer: Singing in the Rain

Donald O'Connor teamed up with Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds in this great musical. There were so many funny scenes in this movie. One of the funny scenes was when they added 'talking' to the movie pictures, and it went slower and slower... "yes, yes, yes... no, no, no... yes, yes, yes... no, nooo, noooo." In the meantime, the actors were shaking their heads yes for no.

It was a funny scene. Rent the movie and "Make 'Em Laugh"!
3. Kurt Russell plays a salesman, Rudy, in this great comedy. What comedy is this? "Well that's just too high..."

Answer: Used Cars

Jeff and Kurt are trying to drum up a little business, bad business tht is, for their rivals, so they decide to put a commercial in, right when President Carter is talking to America.

President Carter: "...high inflation. What is the solution?"

Jeff: "You want the solution to inflation? Hi, friends. Marshall Lucky here for New Deal Used Cars, where we're lowering inflation, not only by fighting high prices, not only by murdering high prices, but by... Yessir. Here's an example. It's a 1972 Cadillac Coupe DeVille, for sixty-two ninety-nine. That price is too high."

Jeff takes aim and shoots the car! At the end of their approximately minute online, President Carter comes back with, "I have heard you, with unmistakable clarity..."

This is one funny movie, but you have to ignore all the bad language in this one.
4. Dudley Moore played this drunken little boy (he acts like one anyhow) with quite a bit of a sense of humor. What comical movie was this?

Answer: Arthur

Arthur Bach was your typical millionaire. He had everything, including a sense of humor. He joked that "he wished he had a dime for every dime he had..." You just sat here laughing through all of his one-liners. Dudley Moore was a great comic, it's a shame that he had such a short life.
5. When I think of Eddie Murphy sitting in a tub saying, "When I was growing up, if we wanted a Jacuzzi, we had to fart in the tub.", it cracks me right up. What movie is this line from?

Answer: Trading Places

Eddie portrayed the character, Billy Ray Valentine. He had quite a few one-liners in this movie with Dan Aykroyd. Remember the jail cell where he says this line, "'Cause I'm a karate man, see! And a karate man bruises on the inside! They don't show their weakness." Great comedy!
6. When Walter Matthau walks out with Chiclets for teeth, I just lost it in this great comedy. What movie is this?

Answer: Dennis the Menace

This is probably the funniest movie I have ever seen. Dennis is just a problem, no matter what he's doing or where he is. Watching him abuse Switchblade Sam into eating all those beans is such a sight. Then the marshmallow flying into Mr. Wilson's head is another spectacular scene.

But the prize is when the gentleman snaps the picture for Mr. Wilson's prize flower with his Chiclets teeth was priceless. I've lost it so many times during this scene. What a fantastic movie.
7. Del and Neal started out as 'acquaintances', but by the end of their adventures, they became friends. What funny movie is this?

Answer: Planes, Trains and Automobiles

There are so many funny scenes in this movie, it's hard to pin point just one. My favorite part of the movie, is when Del is driving the wrong way on the road. Neal wakes up and tries to listen to hear what the people are saying. "He says we're going the wrong way..."
Del comes back, with his hand motions that they've been drinking, and responds "Oh, he's drunk. How would he know where we're going?"
Here comes the truck, here comes the truck... The look on their faces are priceless! ARG!
8. Kevin's family hopped a plane at Christmas time...oops! Where's Kevin in this 1990 movie?

Answer: Home Alone

The first of the series was the best. From the shaving lotion to the face..."arg!" to the broken Christmas ornaments under the window sill. Kevin was one smart kid. He plugged the robbers with a gun in the beginning of their escapade and he didn't quit. He kept nailing them (literally on the basement steps) with all of his stunts.
Just so you know, the first "Home Alone" movie came out in 1990, the second adventure was in 1992.
9. All I need to mention is the guys around the campfire with the beans. Do I need say more? Mel Brooks, can you name this movie?

Answer: Blazing Saddles

Mel Brooks has created many hilarious movies over the years. It's hard to decide which is the best scene. I liked the scene where Madeline Kahn was just mentioning a fact about the new sheriff in town, "it's twu, it's twu..." I've enjoyed so many of his flicks. But the cowboy scene takes the cake. Well, not quite the cake... Bleep, blurp, blop, bleep, blurp, blop!
10. There's roughly a joke a minute in this comedy with Robert Hays. This outrageous comedy has it all - dumb jokes, rotten puns and lots of spoofs. Can you name this movie where Ted Striker and Otto help save the day?

Answer: Airplane!

You can see this movie ten times and probably still catch something you didn't see the other nine times.

They used this type of pun quite often in the movie.
"...a hospital? What is it?"
"It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now."

The main guy in the control tower, Steve McCroskey "...picked the wrong week to quit smoking, sniffing glue and quit amphetamines..."

Poor Clarence, "We have clearance, Clarence..."
Then Roger, "Roger, over..."
Don't get me started with Captain Oveur.

Great comedy, which I recommend highly! It spoofs the movies "Jaws", "Airport" and "Saturday Night Fever" to name a few.

Hope you got a chuckle or two from these scenes and memories.
