We are first introduced to Savannah on a bus ride into the city where the main character learns some history about the town. "Welcome to Savannah!"

The main character is a writer from New York covering an annual Christmas party for Town & Country magazine.
John Cusack plays "that Yankee", John Kelso. John Berendt wrote the book.

There were three mistrials before Sonny could prove that the police department did a shoddy job of collecting evidence and Sonny finally succeeded at obtaining a not guilty verdict at the fourth trial.
