We find the Death Eaters gathered around a large table at Malfoy Manor. Hovering above the table is former Hogawarts' professor, Charity Burbage. She is there, Voldemort informs the group because, as a professor of Muggle Studies, she has expressed the view that there is nothing wrong with wizards and Muggles intermingling and even reproducing. Voldemort kills her with the killing curse and then invites his snake to dispose of her body by consuming it.

Answer: Hermione Granger

Mad Eye has devised a plan to try to move Harry safely from Privet Drive. The plan involves six of the Order taking Polyjuice Potion to look like Harry, in an attempt to confuse any Death Eaters. Harry explodes about this and refuses to put anyone in danger on his account, which is when Hermione speaks the above line. She pulls a hair out of his head anyway and puts it into the potion.

At Bill and Fleur's wedding, Harry has spotted Elphias Doge, a man who has known the Dumbledore family for years. He is making his way through the guests to talk to Elphias when he is stopped by Xenophilius Lovegood. Xenophilius begins to tell Harry about how his paper has always supported Harry, and Harry makes polite noises, while trying to get away. With her normal candour and unexpected perceptiveness, Luna speaks the above line to her father, allowing Harry to get away to talk to Doge.

The train is stopped by Death Eaters, searching for Harry, in the event that he is foolish enough to return to Hogwarts. Neville manages to express his contempt for the Death Eaters, while informing them that Harry is not on the train.

When Scrimgeour gives Harry the snitch left to him in Dumbledore's will, he pauses dramatically to see what happens, but nothing does. After he leaves, Hermione explains that snitches have flesh memories. In the book, the explanation for this is that a snitch remembers the flesh of the person who first caught it, to eliminate cheating.

This particular snitch is the one Harry caught in his very first Quidditch match. He later remembers that he caught it with his mouth, so tries touching the snitch with his lips.

The cryptic message "I open at the close" appears, written on the snitch.

After Ron's arm is splinched in their narrow escape from the Ministry, the three friends spend long hours doing very little. They are frustrated because they cannot find a way to destroy the horcrux. They are taking turns wearing the locket, which puts the wearer in a foul mood. One day, when Ron is wearing the locket, he overhears Harry and Hermione discussing what they might do next.

He offers an opinion and then bitterly informs them that he is still there. He is affected more by the locket than either of the other two and seems to be feeling like a third wheel. This is the beginning of the argument that results in Ron leaving in anger.

Answer: Ron Weasley

Almost immediately upon storming off in anger, Ron realizes that he wants to come back, but doesn't know how to find them. Using the deluminator he is eventually able to return, just in time to save Harry from drowning. Hermione is angry at him for his desertion, although his explanation of how the deluminator went straight to his heart and drew him back did soften her anger.

At one point Harry says, "You're not still mad at him, are you?" And Hermione responds with the above line. This is just before they are caught by the Snatchers.

Answer: Draco Malfoy

Once Voldemort's favourite, Lucius fell out of grace when he dropped the prophecy in "The Order of the Phoenix", losing it forever. Harry Potter has been brought in by Snatchers, but his face is so disfigured that Lucius, fearing Voldemort's anger if it isn't Harry, wants to be certain before summoning Voldemort. Draco has been called upon, by Bellatrix, to identify Harry, having gone to school with him, but he seems reluctant to do so. Lucius explains to Draco what an accomplishment it would be, if they did indeed have Harry in their grasps.

Harry and Ron are being held prisoner in the basement of Malfoy Manor, where they find Ollivander, Luna and Griphook (who is a goblin, not an elf). Hermione is being tortured by Bellatrix Lestrange. Harry uses his mirror fragment, sees the same eyes he's been seeing on and off during the movie, and asks for help. Shortly thereafter Dobby apparates into the basement, much to their surprise, as they are unable to do so. Harry asks Dobby if he is able to apparate in and out of the dungeon-like area and Dobby delivers the above line. Dobby then disapparates with Griphook, Luna and Ollivander, telling Harry and Ron to meet him at the top of the stairs in a matter of seconds.

Answer: Bellatrix Lestrange

After taking Luna, Griphook and Ollivander to safety, Dobby returns to help Harry and Ron rescue Hermione. He is seen loosening the bolts on the chandelier, just before it crashes to the ground. Bellatrix is barely able to get out of the way. She explodes, telling Dobby that he could have killed her, and Dobby replies with the above line.
