Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many "conspirators" (that we know of) were involved in the conspiracy to ruin the peace talks between the Federation and Klingons, including the ones hired to kill Kirk and McCoy on Rura Penthe?

Answer: 9

They were: Lt. Valeris, General Chang, Romulan Ambassador Nanclus, Col. West, Adm. Cartwright, Yeoman Burke, Yeoman Samuel, Martia, and the "warden" of Rura Penthe.
2. According to the Federation special envoy Spock, in how many Earth years will the Klingon ozone be depleted?

Answer: 50

He says this during the confidential meeting held at Starfleet Headquarters near the beginning of the movie. It was during that same meeting that Spock revealed that the Enterprise will be the "first olive branch" given for the Klingons, much to Kirk's dismay.
3. The entire court proceeding for Kirk and McCoy is done in the English language.

Answer: False

Most of it seems to be done in English, but if you watch the first few seconds of the trial, General Chang is speaking Klingon. It wouldn't make sense for him to suddenly start speaking English, so one must conclude that we are hearing it like Kirk and McCoy are, through a universal translator.
4. General Chang quotes which author's plays many times during the movie?

Answer: William Shakespeare

Chang was very fond of Shakespeare. He quoted plays such as "Hamlet" and "Julius Caesar".
5. In an early-draft script, which character was supposed to be the helmsman for the Enterprise-A, before it got changed to Valeris?

Answer: Saavik

According to the "Star Trek Encyclopedia," Saavik was originally supposed to be the helmsman for the Enterprise-A in this movie. Instead, they chose to change it to Valeris. Valeris did pay homage to Saavik's character, though, when she quoted a regulation to Kirk like Saavik did in "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan."
6. What was the name of the Chancellor's starship?

Answer: Kronos One

Somebody on Kronos obviously liked the planet's name well enough to name a ship after it. I wonder how many they named? After all, there are plenty of other numbers :)

As FT player robmeister points out, it also could be that it would be similar to Air Force One so when the chancellor is on board, it becomes designated Kronos One. We don't know for sure, but it's likely this is the case.
7. What general type of ship was Chang's ship that attacked Gorkon's ship?

Answer: Bird of Prey

Chang had a Bird of Prey that was outfitted with a special type of cloaking device that let it fire while the ship was still cloaked. That ship was the one that fired on Gorkon's ship from below Enterprise. That way, it seemed as if the Enterprise fired, which would sever any peace ties that the Federation and Klingons were trying to create.
8. What type of weapons could Chang's ship fire while it was cloaked?

Answer: Photon Torpedoes

Chang's Bird-of-Prey could fire photon torpedoes for sure when they were cloaked, and that is how Kronos One was damaged. However, nothing was said in the movie whether or not that the ship could fire phasers, so we don't know if it could or not.
9. Who was named Chancellor after Gorkon was assassinated?

Answer: Azetbur

Azetbur was indeed promoted to Chancellor after Gorkon's death. In a way, it makes sense. Azetbur was Gorkon's daughter after all. However, Azetbur is the only woman chancellor that humans know about, so it was also a historic moment. Maybe that's why the peace accords went smoothly.

It was a time of firsts. First woman chancellor, and the first peace treaty between humans and Klingons.
10. Where did Kirk's order imply that he wanted the Enterprise to go after hearing orders to return to spacedock to be decommissioned?

Answer: Never Land

"Second star to the right, and straight on until morning" -- Kirk, respoding to Chekov's question about a course heading. That is how Tinkerbell tells Peter Pan on how to get to Never Land.
