As Frank and Will caught up with 777, Will tried hooking up 1206 to 777. His foot was crushed between two trains.

As the brakes failed on 1206 the problem they faced in Stanton was the elevated curve that could derail both trains onto a fuel depot.

Frank decided the only to way to stop 777 was to run across the top of it to try to get to the front before they reached the elevated curve in Stanton.
10. Which character stopped the runaway train?

Answer: Will Colson

After they made it through the elevated curve, Frank was running on top of 777 trying to reach the front. He was stopped because the gap between the next car and his was too wide to continue to get to the front of 777.

As the train was coming to the end of the line, the lead welder from Fuller Yard, Ned Oldham, who was following the train with a police escor,t came right beside their train.

Will jumped from the his locomotive onto the back of Ned's pickup truck and raced to the front of Triple Seven as Will jumped from Ned's pickup truck onto Triple Seven and stopped the train.
