Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How to play: In this quiz, I give you a fractured U2 song title, and you provide the real U2 song title. For example, if the fractured title is "Hock Tow Bar" you would enter the answer "October". First one coming up, good luck! Parade (Hint Then Aim A Fluff)

Answer: Pride

First released as a single in 1984, with Chrissie Hynde on backing vocals, "Pride" was famously inspired by the work of civil rights activist Martin Luther King. It was performed in 2009 by U2 at the Lincoln Memorial during the "We Are One" concert, as part of the official celebrations for President Obama's first inauguration.
2. Whither Widow Chew

Answer: With or Without You

This was U2's first single from the album "The Joshua Tree". The dancer in the original video is Morleigh Steinberg who also appears as the belly-dancer in another video. She went on to marry The Edge.
3. Misty Rhea Sways

Answer: Mysterious Ways

From the 1991 album, "Achtung Baby", and originally called "Sick Puppy", this song was proving a troublesome song to write for a troublesome album. In fact, this album was so problematic that the band was on the verge of splitting up, when suddenly, right in the middle of jamming on "Mysterious Ways", they started improvising what would become one of their biggest hits: "One".

"One" was a spontaneous moment and the band felt it arrived like a spirit. Bono said of it: "...the whole thing was done in 15 minutes" and the lyrics "just fell out of the sky, a gift." The lyrics talk of friendship, love, living with differences, and carrying each other; it was a turning point in the album and cemented the group's commitment to the band and each other's friendship.
4. Ollie One Tissue

Answer: All I Want Is You

From the album "Rattle and Hum", this song was written with Bono's wife, Ali, in mind. He also wrote "Sweetest Thing" for her, giving it to her as an apology for missing her birthday one year, and Ali gave all the profits from the single to the charity she helps run: "Chernobyl Children's Project International".
5. Dionne Far Ghetto Bull Fair

Answer: The Unforgettable Fire

From the 1984 album "The Unforgettable Fire" this song was inspired by an exhibition in Chicago's "Peace Museum". The exhibition was about the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

The album was recorded in Windmill Lane studios in Dublin, where U2 fans began a long tradition of graffiti tributes, writing messages to U2 on the wall outside. In deference to that, the huge entrance gates of Bono's home in Killiney, County Dublin, were designed to incorporate etchings of some of the best graffiti from the wall. They are really worth a look!
6. Hell Of A Shun

Answer: Elevation

The video for "Elevation" is set in a "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider" video game, where there are two sets of U2: the Good U2 and the Evil U2. The Good Edge has been kidnapped by Evil U2. The video begins with a phone call: "This is 'Evil Bono'. We have The Edge. We want the key. You are surrounded and not even Lara Croft can help you now..." Don't worry! Lara and Good U2 do rescue him!
7. One Laugh Calms Stu Down

Answer: When Love Comes To Town

This duet with the great BB King is from the "Rattle and Hum" album and was recorded in Memphis. Another music legend, Little Richard, performs backing vocals and, of course, being an ordained minister, he also provides background rhythmic preaching.
8. Thief Lie

Answer: The Fly

From the 1991 album "Achtung Baby", this is when Bono developed his fly alter-ego and started wearing those signature wraparound sunglasses. Bono described the song as "a crank call from Hell", in which someone has found themselves in hell and is phoning up to tell you all about it.
9. Worthless Treats Hefner Nay Him

Answer: Where The Streets Have No Name

A seminal hit from "The Joshua Tree" album, the video to this song was the infamous Beatles rip-off in which U2 play an impromptu concert on the roof of a liquor store in Los Angeles, stopping traffic until the police move them on. The video won them a Grammy award.
10. Aim Jello Far, Liam

Answer: Angel of Harlem

Another hit single from the album "Rattle and Hum", this song pays homage to the life of the legendary Billie Holiday, who is the "angel of Harlem", also known as Lady Day. In the opening lyrics, BLS is a radio station playing Billie Holiday.

"It was a cold and wet December day
when we touched the ground at JFK,
Snow was melting on the ground,
On BLS I heard the sound
of an angel..."
