"Penny Lane"/"Strawberry Fields Forever" peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart for The Beatles in 1967. "Penny Lane" was number one for one week and "Strawberry Fields Forever" peaked at number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 the same year.

The Beatles double A-Side single "Penny Lane"/"Strawberry Fields Forever" written by Lennon/McCartney peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart in 1967. It was kept out of the number one spot by Engelbert Humperdinck with his first UK number one hit "Release Me".

"Release Me" remained at the top for six weeks in 1967 and spent 56 consecutive weeks on the UK Singles Chart. It was Engelbert Humperdinck's first chart entry since his recording debut for Decca records in 1958, as Gerry Dorsey.

"She's Leaving Home" was a track on The Beatles' 1967 album "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" The album was number one on the UK Album Chart in 1967, the 20th anniversary release in 1987 peaked at number three, the 2009 remastered reissue peaked at number five and the 2017 new stereo mix by Giles Martin was number one.

In 1967 EMI who owned The Beatles' record label Parlophone, sent a letter to Brian Epstein about the cost of the art work for the Sgt. Pepper album. They said that they would only pay the estimated £3,000 it cost if the album sold 1,000,000 copies world wide. Was there ever any doubt?

"Lady Madonna" written by Lennon/McCartney was number one for two weeks on the UK Singles Chart for The Beatles in 1968. It peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 the same year.

Answer: From Me To You

Del Shannon's version of the Lennon/McCartney song "From Me To You", peaked at number 77 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1963. It was not released as a single in the UK.

Although Del Shannon was the first artist to chart with a cover version of a Lennon/McCartney song he was not the first to record one. That honour goes to British singer Kenny Lynch who recorded "Misery" after singer Helen Shapiro's artist and repertoire manager Norrie Paramor, turned it down without even telling her.

Unfortunately it was not a hit for the popular Mr. Lynch, who later appeared on the cover of the Paul McCartney and Wings 1973 album "Band On The Run".

Jeremy Hillary Boob ph.D was the name of a character in The Beatles' animated movie "Yellow Submarine"

"Nowhere Man" was originally released on The Beatles 1965 album "Rubber Soul" The song was also featured in the 1968 animated movie "Yellow Submarine". The Beatles meet Jeremy Hillary Boob ph.D (voiced by British comedian Dick Emery), in the Sea of Nothing and invite him to join them aboard the yellow submarine.

On the UK album "Please Please Me" George sang lead on "Chains" and "Do You Want To Know A Secret", on the UK album "With The Beatles" George sang lead on "Don't Bother Me", "Roll Over Beethoven" and "Devil In Her Heart", on the UK album "A Hard Day's Night" George sang lead on "I'm Happy Just To Dance With You".

Poor old Ringo did even worse than George, he got one song on each of the first two albums by The Beatles' but none on their third "A Hard Day's Night. He even had to wait until their 1968 album "The Beatles", (The White Album) to sing more than one song, "Don't Pass Me By" and "Good Night".

Answer: Get Back

"Get Back" written by Lennon/McCartney entered the UK singles chart on the 23 April 69 and was number one for six weeks for The Beatles. It was number one for five weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 the same year. The UK single was released in Mono but the US single was released in Stereo.

The Beatles' album "Let It Be" entered the UK album chart on the 23 May 70. The single version of "Get Back" is the same take as the album version but it was remixed by Phil Spector and includes John Lennon's roof top comments, "I'd like to say thank you on behalf of the group and ourselves, I hope we passed the audition".
