Sex Pistols Lyrics Trivia Quiz

The Sex Pistols are, in my opinion, the greatest thing to have ever happened to the U.K., and their genius, without doubt, changed the face of music for years. Here's a small quiz on some of their lyrics.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. 'Sergeant Major's on the march, wash the bodies in the starch. See them all die one by one, guess who's dead, guess who's glad.' Song?

Answer: Belsen Was A Gas

'Belsen Was A Gas' was originally written by Sid, but then the lyrics were changed by the others. 'Einmal War Belsen Wirflich Bortrefflich' was another (different) version, sung by Ronnie Biggs, for 'The Great Rock n Roll Swindle'.
2. 'God save Martin Boorman, and Nazis on the run. They wasn't being wicked, God, that was their idea of fun' Which song's this from?

Answer: No One Is Innocent

Another one by Biggs, also for 'The Great Rock n Roll Swindle'.
3. 'I tell you it was all a frame, they only did it 'cause of fame' Song?

Answer: EMI (Unlimited Edition)

As Johnny once said, 'I recommend a lousy record company everytime you run out of songs.'
4. 'She don't want a baby that looks like that' What song's this from?

Answer: Bodies

A song largely inspired by 'the infamous Pauline from Birmingham', as Steve put it.
5. 'Now you've missed out once again, but I thought you knew' What song's this from?

Answer: Silly Thing

'Silly Thing' was written by Paul, not about Sid, but about Steve, who had been sliding into a serious drug problem.
6. Complete the lyric: '______ was divine if you survived the train, then when you got inside it's Auf Wiedersein' Fill in the blank.

Answer: Belsen

Rather sneaky. This was a lyric of Sid's original 'Belsen Was A Gas'.
7. 'I was born with a plastic spoon in my mouth' Which cover is this?

Answer: Substitute

A cover of the 1966 The Who song.
8. 'We like noise, it's our choice, it's what we wanna do' What song?

Answer: Seventeen

Also known as 'Lazy Sod', this was originally wrote by Steve, 'as he was learning to read and write.' 'I couldn't read the lyrics, and Steve couldn't remember them, so I rewrote them' (Johnny's comments on the song)
9. 'An imitation from _______. You're made in Japan from cheese and chalk' Song please.

Answer: New York

Paul: 'There's still a lot of talk that New York started the punk scene and we ripped them off, or some bull...'
10. Finally, '_______________, she ain't no human being, and our figure head, is not what she seems...' What song is this from?

Answer: God Save The Queen

Officially reached No. 2 in the charts during Jubilee week 1977, although there are rumours that it reached No. 1, and the charts were rigged to keep it at No. 2. Many chart listings left No. 2 blank.
