1. The Village People were not only a group, they were a 'concept'. Which person was not represented among them when they first hit the Billboard Top 40 Pop Chart?

Answer: doctor

There was no doctor among the Village People. There was, of course, a soldier (Army), Alex Briley; a cowboy, Randy Jones; an Indian, Felipe' Rose; a construction worker, David Hodo; a policeman, Victor Willis and later, Ray Simpson; and a biker/leatherman, the late Glenn Hughes. The group was the brainchild of producer, Jacques Morali.
2. "...have their own lifestyle and ideas, with zest, and strength and competence, legs of steel..."

Answer: Macho Man

"Macho Man" was the first Village People song to hit Billboard's Top Top 40 Pop chart.
3. "...are you listening to me...What do you want to be...you can make real your dreams, but you've got to know this one thing...."

Answer: YMCA

A # 2 smash, "Y-M-C-A" was one of the group's most popular and recognizable hits. The song was one of the first to feature their own personal brand of unofficial "PSA's: Public Service Announcements". This one touted the Young Men's Christian Association, which offered room and board to men at reasonable rates.
4. "...come on people and make a stand, can't you see we need a hand..."

Answer: In the Navy

Another of the group's personal brand of PSA's, "In the Navy" peaked at # 3 on the Billboard Top 40 Pop chart.
5. "...inhibitions, no you don't need them, no..."

Answer: San Francisco (You've Got Me)

One of two well-remembered songs about California cities ("Hollywood (Everybody is A Star") is the other), "San Francisco (You've Got Me) was especially popular in dance clubs.

Answer: Go West

"Go West", one of my favorite Village People songs, peaked in the lower 30's on the Billboard Top 40 Pop chart.
7. "...take the spark from love, make the rain fall up / 'cause that's easier to do..."

Answer: Can't Stop the Music

"Can't Stop the Music" is the title song from the group's 1980 motion picture of the same name. The film, which also starred actress Valerie Perrine, and former Olympian, Bruce Jenner, was loosely based on the Village People's story.
8. "...When I'm with my friends, friends with whom I can share, all my ups and downs, in-betweens with..."

Answer: Magic Night

Also featured on the "Can't Stop the Music" soundtrack, and in the film, "Magic Night" was a popular, fun song, and another of my favorites. It was performed on various television shows to promote the film.
9. "...The world, (talkin' 'bout the world), belongs to you, (It belongs to you) / The world, (I know, I know, I know), belongs to me..." me..."

Answer: Ready for the 80's

Featured on the double LP, "Live and Sleazy", the single was one of the first to feature lead vocals by replacement lead singer, Ray Simpson. Ray is the brother of gifted songwriter/performer, Valerie Simpson of the husband and wife duo, "Ashford and Simpson".
10. The LP, "Live and Sleazy", featured other Village People singing lead.

Answer: True

The song, "Sleazy" featured my favorite, David Hodo, on lead. The ballad version of the song, "Save Me", which I love, featured Alex Briley singing lead.
