Written by Lennon/McCartney, Del Shannon had a number 77 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with "From Me To You" in 1963. It was not released as a single in the UK.

In June 1963 he became the first singer in the world to enter the Billboard Hot 100 with a Lennon/McCartney song. This was six months before The Beatles themselves had their fist hit on the Billboard Hot 100 with "I Want To Hold Your Hand" in January 1964.

Del Shannon's biggest hit and only number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK singles chart was "Runaway" in 1961.
