Goldman was a waiter and part time model who was caught up in the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson. It was stated at the trial that he was only there because he was returning a pair of sunglasses that Nicole had left at the restaurant.

After forty years of violence, bestiality and blood-lust he became the first serial-killer to be examined in depth by a criminal psychiatrist. He was executed on July 2, 1931. He was a major figure of the civil rights movement and was involved in the Montgomery bus boycott. Winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964, he was killed by a rifle bullet to the neck in April 1968.

After living in the US for a number of years, Bresci returned to Italy in 1900 and shot the King. His reason was in revenge for the massacre of workers in Milan in 1898. He was found strangled in his prison cell in 1901.

George Hennard was responsible for the 24 deaths at Luby's Cafeteria in Texas.

On Easter Sunday, 1955, Ellis murdered her boyfriend David Blakely. She was executed three months later. She was stunningly beautiful and her conviction and execution were unpopular at the time. Her executioner was one of Britain's most famous hangmen, Albert Pierrepoint.

The first Pierrepoint to be appointed Official Executioner was Henry in 1901. He lasted until 1910, when he was dismissed for being too drunk to hang someone. Henry's brother, Thomas, was the next member to join the family business in 1906. He carried on working into his late 70s and finally retired in 1946. Albert, Henry's son, took up the trade as assistant to his Uncle Thomas in 1932.

He was appointed Chief Executioner to the United Kingdom in 1941. Albert was the most prolific and efficient hangman on record.

He is thought to have executed over 450 criminals, including 17 women, during his term of office. He is also credited with the fastest hanging on record, seven seconds from pulling the lever to pronoucement of death.
