Things changed dramatically, however, when Belshazzar called upon Daniel to interpret the writing. Daniel told the king his reign was coming to an abrupt end.

Mark, also known as John Mark, is credited with being the writer of the Gospel of Mark. The book, consisting of sixteen chapters, appears after the Gospel of Matthew and before the Gospel of Luke.

The missing word in Psalm 86:5 is 'ready'. Psalm 86 was written by David and is seen as a prayer for mercy as well as meditation on the majesty of God.

To put the verse in context, here's how Psalm 86:3-5 reads in the NKJV:
"Be merciful to me, O LORD,
For I cry to You all day long.
Rejoice the soul of Your servant,
For to You, O LORD, I lift up my soul.
For You, LORD, are good, and ready to forgive,
And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You."

While the KJV also uses the word 'ready' in the verse, the NIV does not use the word. The verse in the NIV states: "You, LORD, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to You."

The missing word from Matthew 6:26 in the NKJV is 'reap'. The verse is part of a passage, running from Matthew 6:25-34, telling readers to not to worry. Speaking from personal experience, the passage offers comfort to believers who are undergoing trials and difficulties. In fact, I remember one time in my life in which I was undergoing immense stress and I read the passage daily and each time I read it, I felt comforted.

I also like the Easy to Read version of the verse. It words things this way: "Look at the birds. They don't plant, harvest, or save food in barns, but your heavenly Father feeds them. Don't you know you are worth much more than they are?"

The missing word from Isaiah 1:18 in the NKJV is 'reason'. The verse is popular with Christians as it promises that regardless of how badly we screw up, God is always ready to forgive.

The KJV also uses the word 'reason' in the verse. However, the NIV has different wording for Isaiah 1:18. It states, in part, "Come now, let us settle the matter."

Isaiah was the son of Amoz and according to Isaiah 1:1, he prophesied in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

The missing word from Acts 17:11 in the NKJV is 'readiness'. The verse is part of a passage telling of people in Berea being open to the Gospel message and searching Scripture to confirm what Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles, was preaching.

The passage tells of Silas and Timothy staying in Berea for a time to shepherd the believers in the early church. Berea was a city in Macedonia, about 73 kilometers (45 miles) west of Thessalonica.

Rather than state the Bereans received the Gospel message with "all readiness", the NIV states they received it with "with great eagerness."

The missing word from 2 Corinthians 2:7-8 in the NKJV is 'reaffirm'. It's part of a passage in which Paul, the writer of 2 Corinthians, tells readers about the absolute importance of forgiveness "lest Satan should take advantage of us".

The NIV also uses the word 'reaffirm' in 2 Corinthians 2:7-8. However, the KJV states, "Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward him."

2 Corinthians consists of thirteen chapters and was addressed to members of the early church in the Greek city of Corinth. It appears after 1 Corinthians and before Galatians in the New Testament.

The missing word from Philippians 3:13 in the NKJV is 'reaching'. The verse is part of a popular passage in which Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles, writes about his pressing toward the goal. In Verse 14, he goes on to state, "I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." For more details, see Philippians 3:12-16.

The KJV also uses the word 'reaching', but the NIV quotes Paul as saying he is "forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead."

The missing word is 'reapers'. The verse is part of a passage warning rich oppressors will be judged. Rather than use the word 'reapers', the NIV uses 'harvesters'.

Although the letter bears the name James as the author, no one is certain about who James actually was. The writer simply identifies himself as James "a bondservant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ."

The missing word that appears twice in John 20:27 in the NKJV is 'reach'. The verse is part of a passage telling of Jesus appearing before Thomas and the other disciples after Thomas stubbornly refused to believe reports about His resurrection. In John 20:24, Thomas is quoted as saying, "Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe."

A few days after making that statement, Thomas was astounded to see Jesus who told the doubting disciple to put his finger in the wound of His hands and his hand in the giant wound on His side.

With irrefutable evidence before him, Thomas made the great declaration in John 20:28: "My Lord and my God!"

The following verse gives Christ's response: "Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."
