Answer: Moses

Moses was born to Hebrew parents but raised by Pharaoh's daughter as her own son. God chose Moses to secure the Israelites release from the Egyptians. Moses then led the Israelites through the desert towards the land God had promised to them.

Answer: David

David was tending sheep when Samuel, a prophet, anointed him as the future king of Israel. David's trust in God was complete, even leading him to take on a giant Philistine called Goliath when the king's soldiers were too afraid to face him. He eventually went on to rule Israel for many years before appointing his son Solomon as his successor.
3. I killed my brother. I fell prey to jealousy. Who was this killer?

Answer: Cain

Cain and Abel were the first two sons born to Adam and Eve, with Cain being the elder. Cain was a farmer while Abel was a shepherd. When God favoured Abel's offering over his own, Cain was filled with rage and jealousy leading him to murder Abel. This act has led him to go down in history as the first murderer in the Bible.

Answer: Jacob

Isaac and Rebekah had twin sons - Esau and Jacob. Esau was the older one but Jacob was favoured by their mother. When it was time for Isaac to give a special blessing to the firstborn son, Rebekah helped Jacob deceive Isaac and snatch the blessing that was meant for Esau. This led to enmity between the brothers that was only resolved after many years had passed.

Answer: Ruth

Naomi, along with her husband and sons, had moved to a foreign land. It was there that their sons got married to non-Jewish women. Tragedy struck the family and claimed the lives of Naomi's husband and both sons. When Naomi sought to return to her homeland, Ruth refused to leave her side. Eventually Ruth married a kinsman of her late husband and her great grandson was the future king, David. Ruth's loyalty secured her a place in the genealogy of Jesus.

Answer: Joseph

Joseph was born to Jacob by his beloved wife Rachel. As a result, Jacob favoured him over his other sons causing Joseph to become a victim of their jealousy. While his brothers first sought to kill him, they later settled for selling him off as a slave. Through a series of events Joseph landed in prison in Egypt where he correctly interpreted a dream of the king's baker and butler who were both imprisoned with him.

This gave him a chance to interpret the king's own dream and made a way for him to rise to a position of power and authority in the alien land.

Answer: Luke

Luke is credited with writing one of the Gospels as well as the book of Acts which documents the history of the early Christians. Luke's Gospel contains accounts of various parables taught by Jesus and the miracles He performed while on earth. Luke's is the only Gospel included in the Bible that was not written by an apostle of Jesus.

John often refers to himself as the 'apostle Jesus loved' in his Gospel. Along with Peter and James, he formed the inner circle of Jesus' closest disciples. When Jesus died on the cross, the gospel mentions John being present and Jesus entrusted his mother to John before he died. Later John wrote the book of Revelation while he was exiled on the Greek island of Patmos.

Elizabeth was married to a priest called Zechariah and the couple had been childless for long. Mary, who was chosen by God to give birth to Jesus, was a cousin of Elizabeth.

When Elizabeth met Mary while both women were pregnant, the child within Elizabeth's womb leapt and Elizabeth praised Mary calling her blessed among all women.

Judas Iscariot was one of the twelve men chosen by Jesus to be His apostles. Unfortunately, he got tempted by money and willingly betrayed His master to the Pharisees in exchange for thirty pieces of silver. Later he bitterly regretted his actions and the Bible notes him as having committed suicide in grief.
