Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which person is found in the book of Genesis, along with Noah?

Answer: Joseph

Noah and Joseph are both found in the book of Genesis. According to Genesis 11, Noah constructed a gigantic ark in which he and his wife and their three sons and their wives took refuge when the world was engulfed in a mighty flood after it rained continuously for forty days and forty nights.

Meanwhile, the story of Joseph is recounted in Genesis 37 to 50. According to Scripture, Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers only to end up becoming the second most powerful man in Egypt, surpassed only by the Pharaoh.
2. Which person is found in the book of Exodus, along with Moses?

Answer: Aaron

Moses and Aaron are both found in the book of Exodus. Fittingly, the two were brothers. According to the Book of Exodus, Moses and Aaron led the Israelites out of Egypt and they were assisted by their sister Miriam. After wandering for forty years in the wilderness, the Israelites finally arrived in Canaan, known as the Promised Land, where they took up residence. However, Moses, Aaron and Miriam died before the Israelites crossed the Jordan River and took up residence in Canaan.

In addition to Exodus, the names of Moses and Aaron can both be found in a number of books, including Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy and Joshua.
3. Which person is found in the book of 1 Kings, along with David?

Answer: Ahab

David and Ahab are both found in the book of 1 Kings, as well as 2 Kings and 2 Chronicles.

According to Scripture, David was a young shepherd boy when he slayed the Philistine giant Goliath and eventually became king of Israel. 1 Kings provides details about David during the end of his reign and his decision to appoint Solomon, his son, as king of Israel.

Meanwhile, a considerable portion of 1 Kings is devoted to details about Ahab and his wicked wife Jezebel. According to Scripture, Ahab and Jezebel worshiped false gods and were bitter adversaries of prophets of God like Elijah.
4. Which person is found in the book of Esther, along with Mordecai?

Answer: Zeresh

Mordecai and Zaresh are both found in the book of Esther. Mordecai was the cousin of Queen Esther while Zaresh was the evil wife of Haman, the man who had a devilish plan to kill all the Jews in the massive Persian empire ruled by Ahasuerus. (In the NIV, Ahasuerus is known as Xerxes.)

According to Scripture, it was Zeresh who suggested her husband Haman construct a gigantic gallows for the express purpose of killing Mordecai, as per Esther 5:14-15.

Scripture states Mordecai and Esther were successful in preventing Haman from carrying out his plan, with Haman and his ten sons being executed. No information is given about the fate of Zeresh.
5. Which person is found in the book of Philippians, along with Syntyche?

Answer: Euodia

Euodia and Syntyche are both mentioned by Paul in Philippians. The two women, who were members of the early church, were apparently at each other's throats. No details are given about why the women were in disagreement.

In Philippians 4:2-3, in the NKJV, Paul "implores" Euodia and Syntyche "to be of the same mind in the Lord." (In the NIV, Paul "pleads" with the women "to agree as Christians should.")

Paul also urges other members of the early church to help the two women who labored with him in promoting the Gospel. However, no additional details are given.

Euodia and Syntyche are mentioned in only Philippians and nowhere else in the Bible.
6. Which person is found in the Gospel of John, along with Lazarus?

Answer: Malchus

Lazarus and Malchus are both found in the Gospel of John.

Lazarus, according to John 11, had been dead for four days when he was raised from the dead by Jesus. He lived at Bethany with his two sisters Martha and Mary.

Meanwhile, Malchus is mentioned in John 18:10, part of a passage telling of Jesus being arrested late at night by an army of men led by Judas Iscariot in the Garden of Gethsemane. According to Scripture, Peter drew a sword and cut off the right ear of Malchus, a servant of the high priest. (Although Malchus is mentioned by name in only John 18:10, Luke 22:51 states the ear of the man Peter severed was restored by Jesus.)
7. Which person is found in the book of Acts, along with Tabitha/Dorcas?

Answer: Eutychus

Tabitha, also known as Dorcas, is found in the Book of Acts along with Eutychus.

Both were raised from the dead by members of the early church. According to Acts 9:36-43, Peter raised Tabitha from the dead at Joppa. Meanwhile, Acts 20:7-12, tells of Paul raising Eutychus from the dead at Troas.

Details about Tabitha and Eutychus being brought back to life can be found in only the Book of Acts. Their names appear in no other book in the Bible.
8. Which person is found in the book of Philemon, along with Apphia?

Answer: Archippus

Apphia and Archippus are both found in only the book of Philemon. They are mentioned in Philemon 1:2 with Apphia being described as "beloved" and Archippus as a "fellow soldier" in he NKJV. There is no conclusive evidence, but some people, myself included, believe Apphia was the wife of Philemon and Archippus was their son.

The book of Philemon was written by Paul, while under arrest in Rome. In a nutshell, the book is a passionate plea to Philemon to accept back his run-away slave Onesimus as an equal in Christ.
9. Which person is found in 1 Corinthians, along with Chloe?

Answer: Apollos

Chloe and Apollos are both mentioned in 1 Corinthians. (Apollos is also mentioned in Acts and Titus but there is no mention of Chloe in those books.)

According to Scripture, Apollos was a worker in the early church. In 1 Corinthians 3:1-7 in the NKJV, Paul makes reference to Apollos in an extremely positive light when he issues an appeal for believers to start showing spiritual maturity.

Meanwhile, in 1 Corinthians 1:11, Paul writes that members of Chloe's household had made him aware of divisions in the early church at Corinth, an ancient city in Greece. This is the only instance in which Chloe's name is mentioned in the entire Christian Bible. As a result, little is known about her.
10. Which person is found in the Gospel of Luke, along with Jairus?

Answer: Zacchaeus

Jairus and Zacchaeus are both found in the Gospel of Luke.

Jairus is mentioned in the Gospels of Matthew and Mark as well, but Zacchaeus is mentioned in only the Gospel of Luke. In other words, the Gospel of Luke is the only book in which both men are mentioned.

Zacchaeus, according, to Luke 19:2, was the chief tax collector of Jericho. Because he was a short man, Scripture tells of him climbing up a tree to get a better look at Jesus as he passed through town.

Jairus was a synagogue ruler whose twelve-year-old daughter was raised from the dead by Jesus, as per Luke 8:41-56.
