1. Who is the mother of Joseph, the son of Jacob? See Genesis 30.

Answer: Rachel

Genesis 30:1; 22-25 tells us Rachel was barren, and blamed her husband because she had no children. The Lord remembered Rachel and opened her womb, and she conceived, and bore a son. She named him Joseph.
2. Who gave birth to Obed, the father of Jesse?

Answer: Ruth

Ruth 4:13; 16-17 says Boaz found favor in Ruth, and let her glean in his field. He was so impressed by her virtue, and kind care of his relative Naomi, that eventually he took her to wife. The Lord gave her a conception, and she bore a son. They named him Obed.
3. Who bore Samuel, the son of Elkanah? See 1 Samuel 1:20.

Answer: Hannah

1 Samuel 1:2;20 says Elkanah had two wives, Hannah and Peninnah, but he loved Hannah the most. Peninnah had children but Hannah had none, and she was very grieved. The Lord remembered Hannah, and gave her a son whom she named Samuel. Hannah dedicated him to the Lord for the rest of his life.

Genesis 38:13-30 says Tamar played the harlot, and tricked her father-in-law, Judah, because he broke a promise to her. She made him give her certain personal possessions in good faith, until she was paid for her services. Things did not work out as Judah thought they would.

Rebekah discovered that she was carrying two nations in her womb, and that they would strive against each other.

Exodus 2:21-22 says that while Moses dwelt in the land of Midian, he helped the priest of Midian's seven daughters, when evil shepherds drove them away from the watering troughs, as they were watering their father's flock. Reuel, the father, was very grateful for what Moses had done for his daughters, and invited him to eat with them. Moses was comfortable there, and decided to stay. Reuel gave him his daughter, Zipporah, to wife.
