Answer: Thomas Hearns

Ray Leonard defeated Hearns in September 1981 to win the welterweight title, he also fought Roberto Duran, Marvin Hagler and Wilfred Benitez during his career. Leonard, Duran, Hagler and Hearns are often referred to as the "four kings" of 1980s boxing.
2. Jose Castillo was defeated by which fighter in May 2005 in the first fight of a trilogy?

Answer: Diego Corrales

Diego Corrales defeated Jose Castillo after rising from the canvas twice. Castillo won the rematch in Octoebr 2005. The third fight in February 2006 was postponed becuase an injury to Corrales, and the rescheduled bout for June 2006 was abandoned.
3. What was the name given to the first fight between Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali?

Answer: Fight of the Century

The Fight of the Century took place on the 8th March 1971 and ended in a decision victory for Frazier, who was the undefeated world heavyweight chmapion (Ali was also undefeated before he was stripped of the title because he refused to join the US military as a conscript) .

The Super Fight is the name of a simulated fight between Ali and Rocky Marciano, who were filmed acting out various results. The final result was determined by a computer, and broadcast in 1970 (Marciano won). The Thriller in Manilla was the name of Ali's third fight with Frazier, in October 1975, to determine the undisputed world heavyweight chmapin (Ali own on a TKO in the 14th). The Rumble in the Jungle was the classic bout with George Foreman in October 1974; Foreman lost his title to Ali by KO in the 8th Round.

The Dark Destroyer (boxing career 1987 to 1996) was world-class British fighter Nigel Benn who, despite knocking Eubank down, was stopped in the ninth. Prior to this fight his professional career was 22-0 (all by KO). His pro career stats when he retired were 42-5-1 (35 wins by KO). His autobiography is entitled "Dark Destroyer" (released 2001).

Roberto Duran was brutally knocked out during his attempt to win the WBC welter-weight titles. Marvin Hagler and Thomas Hearns fought in "The War" in April 1985 where Hearns was knocked out in the third round. Hearns retired with career stats of 61-5-1 (48 wins were by KO).

Floyd Patterson was one of few boxers who agreed to share the ring with the feared Liston; a decision which went against him when he was brutally knocked out in the first round. Foreman and Frazier never fought Liston. However, Ali fought and beat him twice in February 1964 and May 1965.

Sugar Ray Leonard came back from a lay-off of three years (his previous fight was in May 1984 vs. Kevin Howard), to gain the split decision over Hagler: two judges had scored the bout 115-113 and 118-110 for Leonard, and one judge had it 115-113 for Hagler. There was no re-match.
8. Which fighter gained the nickname of Cinderella Man after he defeated Max Baer in June 1935 by unanimous decision?

Answer: James Braddock

Braddock defeated the champion Max Baer in a fight Baer acknowledged he had not trained much for; underestimating the lowly-regarded Braddock. He suffered a decision loss. The admiration for Braddock was short-lived, however, as he lost his first defence of the title two years later against Joe Louis, in June 1937.
9. Who did an ageing Archie Moore defeat in December 1958 to retain his light-heavyweight title?

Answer: Yvon Durelle

Archie Moore defeated the younger and fresher Yvon Durelle by KO in the eleventh round after a difficult match in which he was knocked-down four times during the fight (three of them came in the first round). Moore fought Ali in NOvember 1962 when he was still known as Cassius Clay and was defeated by TKO in the fourth round.

Answer: Joe Frazier vs George Foreman

Joe Frazier started the fight well landing some heavy punches to Foreman but was no match for the taller man and was stopped in the second round. Frazier lost his heavyweight title. Both fighters were undefeated prior to this bout: Frazier was 29-0 and Foreman was 38-0.
