1. Arguably the greatest basketball player to ever play the game, Michael Jordan returned after his second retirement to which team?

Answer: Wizards

Jordan played 13 seasons with the Bulls and 15 seasons overall. He was an All-Star in every season that he played, except for the 1994-95 season where he didn't come back from his retirement until after the all-star break. He retired after the 1992-93 season. Returned for 17 games in 1995 and three full seasons with the Bulls before retiring again in 1998.

In 2001 he came back and played two seasons with the Wizards, including coming off the bench for the first time in his career.
2. Which boxer retired in 1977, only to come back more than a decade later and earn a title fight?

Answer: George Foreman

Foreman retired with a record of 45-2 at age 28. His two losses were to Ali and Jimmy Young.

Ten years later to the week he made a comeback, and as one of the oldest fighters on the professional circuit won 24 straight fights over three years, earning a title fight against Evander Holyfield. Foreman lost the fight, and went 3-2 in his next four fights, only losing a title chance against Tommy Morrison.

Finally at age 45 he knocked out Michael Moorer and became the oldest heavyweight champion ever.

He retired at age 48 with a 76-5 record after losing his final title defense to Shannon Briggs.
3. "Football is my wife and baseball is my mistress," was said by which player who retired from, and returned to both sports at least once?

Answer: Deion Sanders

Sanders played baseball for several teams, often taking time off in between stints in the majors. He played consistently from 1980-95 with the Yankees, Braves, Reds and Giants. Then he took 1996 off, played in 97, and then took three seasons off before playing again in 2001 briefly.

On the football side, he played professionally from 1989 through 200 when he retired rather that play for a team owner he didn't like in Washington. He returned in 2004 and played two seasons with the Ravens.

Sanders played with the Falcons from 1989-93, making him a member of two Atlanta pro teams at the same time for awhile. He played 1994 with the 49ers, later meaning he played professionally for two teams in that city as well.
He was a Cowboy from 1995-99 and played in 2000 for the Redskins.

Proving he was the king of the comeback, he also had a record deal in 1994, and released a second record in 2005.

He played in both the MLB all-star game and the NFL Pro Bowl, and played in the World Series and the Super Bowl as well.

Cunningham was one of the best dual threat (Running and passing) quarterbacks in the NFL during his time. He played for Minnesota, Dallas and Baltimore in his comeback seasons.
5. How many Cy Young Awards did Roger Clemens win after retiring for the first time in 2003?

Answer: One

Overall Clemens won 7 Cy Young Awards, the first six were in 1986, 1987, 1991, 1997, 1998, 2001. He retired from the Yankees in 2003, and returned after just a few months off to play for the Astros in 2004. He played three seasons in Houston including starting the all-star game and winning the Cy Young in 2004, his comeback season.

He retired after the 2006 season, only to comeback in 2007 with the Astros again for a half season.

In 2007 he once again came out of retirement and pitched a partial season with the Yankees. He retired from the MLB for good after that season, but pitched in an independent league in 2012, and for the World Baseball Congress All-Star team in 2016.

Lemieux was a two-time all-star after returning to the ice. He had initially retired after being diagnosed with cancer. Due to his spectacular career, the league waived the waiting period and he was inducted into the Hall of Fame that off-season. So when he returned, not only was he a team owner, but he was already in the Hall of Fame.

Answer: Magic Johnson

Magic Johnson retired in 1991 after he was diagnosed with with HIV. He returned in 1992 for just the all-star game, and later played the last portion of the 1995-96 season before deciding to retire for good.

He coached the Lakers briefly in 1994.
8. Justine Henin retired as the world's number one ranked player in which sport?

Answer: Tennis

Henin retired just before the 2008 Australian Open, where she was the 3-time defending champion. At that time she requested that she be removed from the world rankings completely.

In 2010 she tried to make a comeback, only to suffer a major injury and retire again a few months later in 2011.

Answer: Lance Armstrong

Armstrong resurrected his career after beating cancer to rebound and win the biggest event in Cycling 7 straight times. After his official retirement in 2005, he sat out until 2009 when he returned with a 3rd place finish in the event. He placed 23rd in 2010 and retired for good.

His comeback though spurred on a look at his past achievements, revealing that he has been cheating the entire time. Enhanced looks at his urine samples proved he had been doping and had all of his titles stripped. He maintains his 1993 World Championship, but everything he won from 1998 on was officially voided.
10. Who was the face of the New York Cosmos for three seasons in the North American Soccer League, despite having retired from professional soccer two seasons earlier?

Answer: Pele

Pele retired following the 1972 season, though he continued to play to occasional match for his team, Santos FC, in Brazil through 1974. Those were mostly just exhibition matches.

In 1974 he signed a deal to come to the U.S. and play for the New York Cosmos.

He scored 65 goals in 111 games for the Cosmos.
