Answer: 1985

They won in 1985 beating the St. Louis Cardinals in 7 games. The series climaxed during game six, when after eight scoreless innings, the Cardinals scored a run in the eighth and ninth inning. Pinch-hitter Dane Iorg hit a single that scored the tying and winning runs. The Royals went on to win game seven, 11-0.

Answer: 1980

They lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 4 games to 2. Dan Quisenberry figured into three of the decisions during the series. "Quiz" lost the lead twice during the Series. He gave up six runs over 10 innings pitched in six games.

Busby actually pitched 2 no-hitters. One in 1973 and another in 1974. Colborn pitched his in 1977, and Saberhagen pitched his in 1991. David Cone pitched a no hitter in 1999, however it was for the Yankees.
