Chris Evert was also the first to win at least grand slam title 13 years in a row from 1974-1986.
2. Who was the first Scottish born tennis player to win a major?

Answer: Harold Mahony

Harold Mahony won his only major title in 1896 at Wimbledon (the term "grand slam title" wasn't used until 1924). It wasn't until 116 years later that another Scottish born player won a grand slam title (Andy Murray at the 2012 US Open).
