Answer: False

There were three non-football mascots competing in this race: Superhound from Peterboro Greyhound Track, Hugo Hound, and Major Story from the Peterboro Telegraph.
3. Which mascot won the race?

4. Which club did the winning mascot represent?

Answer: Birmingham City

The other finishers for teams were:

Cyril - Swansea,
Camilla - Norwich,
Interestingly, these three mascots were all birds.
5. Which of these football teams had two representatives in this race?

Answer: Bradford City

Bradford had both Billy the Bantam, a chicken, and The Fat Gent. The latter was a rather portly gentleman who didn't wear a costume. Preston's representative was Deepdale Duck (14th). Palace's was Pete the Eagle (11th,) and Northampton's was Clarence the Dragon (12th).
6. Norwich had two mascots compete in this race.

Answer: True

Both Captain and Camilla Canary competed for the Norfolk side.
7. Which mascot finished last in the race?

Answer: Sammy the Shrimp

Sammy also finished last in 2000, but was saved the humiliation of a hat-trick, as Eddie the Eagle was disqualified in 2001. In 1999, Sammy was also voted ugliest mascot due to his huge and unsightly costume, which probably also led to his poor racing skills. In 2003, Sammy had got himself a new streamlined costume.
8. Which team did the mascot that finished last represent?

Answer: Southend United

At Southend, Sammy was accompanied by Elvis the Eel, who didn't look at all like an eel. Elvis did not appear in the race.
9. How many mascots competed in this race?

Answer: 17

This increased greatly in the 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003 races, mainly due to press coverage. These races contained in excess of 60 mascots.
10. How many bird mascots appeared in this race?

Answer: 7

These were Bartley Bluebird, Cyril the Swan, Camilla the Canary, Billy Bantam, Captain Canary, Pete the Eagle, and Deepdale Duck. Five of those appeared in the top seven.
