The Detroit Red Wings beat Vancouver 4-2 in Round 1, St. Louis 4-1 in Round 2, Colorado 4-3 in Round 3 and Carolina 4-1 in the Stanley Cup Finals. Carolina came out with a suprising game 1 victory but Detroit came back to win the next 4 games and the Stanley Cup.

Detroit thrashed the Avalanche 7-0 to win the series in seven games and advance to the Stanley Cup Finals. Detroit won games 1, 3, 6, and 7. Colorado won Games 2, 4 and 5.
