During the original 6 era the Rangers only made the playoffs 7 times and the Bruins missed the playoffs for 8 straight seasons from 1959-60 to 1966-67. Montreal Canadiens won the Stanley Cup 10 times between 1942-1967, the Toronto Maple Leafs won it 9 times, the Detroit Red Wings won the Stanley Cup 5 times, while the Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup just once, in 1960-61.

Richard scored 50 goals in a 50 game season in 1944-45. Gordie Howe's first season was in 1946-47, while in that same year the NHL season went from 50 games up to 60 games, and in 1949-50 it moved to 70 games. Turk Broda was the first NHL goalie to win 300 games on December 20th, 1950.
