Answer: David Ortiz

David Ortiz began his career in the early 1990s, as he was drafted by the Seattle Mariners. He made his MLB debut with the Minnesota Twins in 1997, and was eventually released following the 2002 season and signed on with Boston in 2003, where he played until his retirement in 2016.
2. This famous Red Sox, known as the "Sultan of Swat," had his contract famously sold to the team's rival New York Yankees. Where was he born?

Answer: Baltimore, Maryland

Babe Ruth famously had his contract sold to the New York Yankees for $100,000 and a $300,000 loan to then-Red Sox owner Harry Frazee in 1919. The Red Sox would go a long, long time without winning a World Series from this point onward, a period of time commonly referred to as "Curse of the Bambino" (the curse ended in 2004).
