1. The Jules Rimet Trophy was on display in England when it was stolen. What was the name of the now-famous dog which found the trophy?

Answer: Pickles

It was found wrapped in newspaper in some bushes in London. A replica was also made in case the original wasn't found. It is in the English National Football Museum.
2. The 1966 FIFA World Cup had a mascot called "World Cup Willie". What type of animal was Willie?

Answer: Lion

The idea came from the three lions which are on the badge of the England football team.
3. Italy never made it past the first round. Which other team never made it past the qualifying stage, causing another big shock?

Answer: Brazil

Brazil were the previous winners in 1962. They had on their team one of the world's greatest footballers, Pele. However, controversial losses to Portugal and Hungary put pay to their challenge.
4. In the first round, what was the venue for the match between Uruguay and France?

Answer: White City Stadium

It was played at White City Stadium because when the match was originally scheduled to be played at Wembley, it clashed with the greyhound racing. The owner refused to reschedule the greyhound racing.

Answer: Two players for Uruguay sent off

The final score was 4-0 to West Germany. Uruguay had 2 players sent off in the match, Horacio Troche and Héctor Silva.

An incredible quarterfinal. North Korea went 3-0 up in the first half before hero of the hour Eusebio pulled one back before halftime. In the second half, Eusebio netted three more goals along with a goal from Augusto. This was one of the best quarterfinals seen.
7. Quarter-final England v Argentina: Whenever these two teams meet in World Cup finals, there is always some incident the match is remembered for. In this match it was a sending off of an Argentinian player. Who was it?

Answer: Antonio Rattin

Antonio Rattin was sent off. All the Argentinian players protested. Rattin himself took a slow walk off. He eventually had to be escorted off by policemen. England won the match 1-0.

Answer: Bobby Charlton

It was Bobby Charlton who scored both goals, to put England into the World Cup final for the first time.

West Gemany scored first after 12 minutes via Helmut Haller. Geoff Hurst equalised after 16 minutes. Martin Peters put England ahead in the 78th minute. With a minute to go, West Germany got a free kick and scored by Wolfgang Weber. This took the match into extra time.

In the 98th minute Geoff Hurst got his second goal. In the final minute he got his hat trick. The World Cup was won by England and a very tired but jubilant England captain Bobby Moore lifted the Jules Rimet Trophy.
10. In the final, who was the commentator that uttered the immortal words, "They think it's all over, it is now"?

Answer: Kenneth Wolstenholm

The scene: England were 3-2 up in the final minute of extra time. A small pitch invasion ensues in the corner. Geoff Hurst was clean through on goal. At this point Kenneth Wolstenholm comments, "Some people are on the pitch, some people are on the pitch.

They think it's all over". At this point, Geoff Hurst shoots and the ball flies into the back of the net. Wolstenholm then continues, "It is now." The England team that day were Gordon Banks, George Cohen, Ray Wilson, Nobby Stiles, Jack Charlton, Bobby Moore, Bobby Charlton, Martin Peters, Alan Ball, Geoff Hurst, Roger Hunt, and manager Sir Alf Ramsey.
