 Jordyn Wieber (USA) actually qualified 4th out of 24 top qualifiers. However, in artistic gymnastics there's a two per country rule, which states that only two gymnasts from each country can advance to a final. Therefore, if two of your teammates qualify ahead of you then you cannot qualify to the same final no matter how high your score is. Both of Jordyn's teammates, Gabby Douglas and Aly Raisman qualified ahead of her and so Jordyn was left out of the finals.

 Aliya Mustafina actually had a tied score with four persons on four different occasions at the 2012 Olympic Games. They are Elizabeth Tweddle on floor in qualifications, Aly Raisman (USA) in the All-Around final, Vanessa Ferrari (Italy) on floor in event finals and Jordyn Wieber (USA) on beam in qualifications.

At the 2012 Olympic Games all ties had rules in which they can/should be broken and only one winner emerges. It's interesting to note that Aliya won every single tie breaker she was in at the Olympic Games except for the one with Jordyn where that tie remained as they had the same execution and difficulty scores.

 It is a requirement that all gymnasts land feet first for them to get any score at all. Therefore, if a gymnast lands on her hands first or any other body part she would be credited with a zero because the vault would be considered invalid. At the 2008 Olympics, gymnasts lost an automatic .8 points off their scores if they fall but still land feet first.

At the 2008 Olympics Hannah Whelan fell on vault and got a score of 13.5 (that means she would've gotten a 14.3 without the fall). However, in 2012 she did not meet the requirement of falling feet first and so was given a score of zero as the vault was considered invalid. Because of it she finished dead last in the All-Around final when she actually qualified in 17th position out of 24 finalists.

 Gabby Douglas qualified 3rd to the All Around final behind teammate Aly Raisman and top qualifier Victoria Komova. She put up some really impressive scores across the four events and managed to win title of Olympic All-Around Champion by .259. Her overall score of 62.232 was the highest all around score recorded at a major international competition for the quadrennium 2009-2012.

 All the other gymnasts who qualified in the number one spot on their best events fell in the rankings in the finals. Victoria Komova was the first one. Then, in vault final Mckayla Maroney, dubbed "the best vaulter in the world", fell on her second vault and had to settle for second place. On uneven bars, Beth Tweddle performed an excellent routine but took some big costly steps on landing that bumped her to a third place finish. Finally, Sui Lu who qualified first on beam was beaten by her teammate Deng Linlin who had .1 difficulty ahead of her and both of them were awarded the same execution score.
