The franchise was named the Boston Braves for their first season, then changed their name to the Boston Redskins for four seasons before moving to D.C. Their first season in 1932 brought them a 4-4-2 season record, for a fourth place finish of eight teams. The Chicago Bears won the title in the season for going 7-1-6, although the runner-up Green Bay Packers went 10-3-1.

The 1937 Redskins won the NFL East division with their 8-3 record. The Chicago Bears went 9-1-1 to win the NFL West division. The two went head-to-head in the championship game, and saw the Redskins defeat the Bears, 28-21. The game took place at Wrigley Field in Chicago, and was seen by only 15,870 in attendance, the second lowest attendance in a NFL championship game at that point.

In the second NFL Championship game in 1934, the Giants and Bears went at it in front of 35,059 fans. The Giants won that game 30-13.

Answer: Joe Gibbs

Gibbs' coaching career was with the Redskins from 1981-2007, with Nascar endeavors always pending. In 2007, Joe's record with the Redskins was 154-94 in 16 seasons. George Allen and Ray Flaherty both had the helm of the Redskins for seven seasons each, finding Allen's record at 71-76, and Flaherty's at 54-21. Curly Lambeau had the club for only two seasons from 1952-1953 with a 10-13 record.

All the others came after the Baugh regime. Sammy was a loyal Redskin and played his entire NFL career with them from 1937-1952. He threw for 21,886 yards and 187 touchdowns. Baugh was a 1963 NFL Hall of Fame inductee.

The 1972 seasons was a historical one, and saw the Miami Dolphins go perfect all the way to the Super Bowl. The Redskins were no slouch, and went 11-3 in the season under the helm of George Allen. Their only losses in the season were against the Patriots, Cowboys, and Bills.

The only Redskin score in the Super Bowl took place late in the fourth quarter, a 49-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown by cornerback Mike Bass. Washington scored no points offensively in the big game.

Answer: Clinton Portis

Portis was in his fourth season in the NFL, and second with the Redskins when he rushed for 1516 yards in 2005. He had rushed for 1500+ yards twice earlier with the Broncos. In 352 rushing attempts in 2005, Portis fumbled the ball only three times.

From 1937-1945, Baugh played on both sides on the line. He intercepted a career 31 passes for the Redskins.

It was 10 Super Bowls later when they met again, but this time with John Riggins, Joe Theismann, and Charlie Brown on the offense, they would defeat the Dolphins 27-17.
