Amanda Carter is a former member of Free Mars, and friend of Abel Horn, although because of her new position, she doesn't want to have anything to do with him. Her great-grandfather piloted the first colony ship to Mars. She was on the station to negotiate a deal with Taro Isogi.

Answer: "Free Mars."

Someone on Mars, presumably with some relation to Bureau 13, does not want the deal between the Mars government and FutureCorp to go through. By having Free Mars claim responsibility for the death of Isogi, it will appear as though the deal would have been harmful to Mars. This would prevent the deal from going through after Isogi's death.

Answer: Abel Horn

The following is the Earth Force file on Able Horn --- "Criminal Record Confirmed...Abel Horn is a suspect in over 75 such incidents. In 2252 he was sentenced to Phobos maximum security outpost for involvement in the computer theft of over 50 million conglomerate credits. Served 1 year.

Then was transferred to Lunis Planum prison base. He then served 3 months and escaped April 16, 2253...Current Status: Deceased 2258...Cause: Died in Mars rebellion...Circumstances of Death: Destroyed in outer atmosphere combat skirmish Beta-5 as a result of plasma burst from Earthforce Star Cruiser Pournelle...Death Recorded: by Phobos Outpost 20."

Garibaldi escorts Talia from Sheridan's office to her quarters. As he is about to leave, she asks him to stay since she doesn't want to be alone. She then offers him tea, and he says: "Well, since I am chief of security, I guess seeing you're secure is my job, and tea just happens to be my third favorite thing in the universe."

Sheridan describes project Lazarus to Garibaldi: "The theory was to 'hard-wire' the subject's brain with a computer intelligence that kept the brain functional while the body was repaired. Then, using telepathic deep scan, the subject was fixated on the moment of his death, shutting down all conscious thought.

The computer takes complete control, while the subject is dying over and over again in his subconscious."

At the end of the episode, we see that Control's contact, 'Thirteen,' is actually the Psi Cop in the operation image, and she is supposed to be dead. Sheridan suggests to Garibaldi that Bureau 13 is behind the Lazarus project (which is confirmed to us in the communications).

Sheridan to Garibaldi concerning Bureau 13: "For the past six years, there have been rumors about a...rogue agency operating deep inside Earth Gov. A dirty tricks squad dealing in black projects and Star Chamber justice. It took me over three years just to get the name: Bureau 13. And the man who gave me that name died soon after. I am convinced they exist and that they are behind this incident...There is a spider in the web, Mr. Garibaldi, and I intend to find it...and kill it."

This is one of my favorite scenes in the entire series...a conversation between Sheridan and Ivanova in C&C regarding telepaths. Ivanova: "Well, you know how I feel about telepaths." Sheridan: "Do I ever. You threw one out of a third story window on Io." Ivanova: "There was an ample pool below the window." Sheridan: "I'll assume you knew that." ...

Sheridan: "And you don't trust Psi Corps?" Ivanova: "No. Do you?" Sheridan: "Telepaths are gifted and cursed in ways I can never hope to understand.

But they're still human beings - good, bad, or indifferent. No...I trust in individuals, not organizations." Ivanova: "Then you may trust Miss Winters."

After Sheridan questions Talia regarding Taro Isogi and his death, Talia says: "I'm also tired and I hurt. May I go back to my quarters now?" Sheridan replies: "Yes, I'll arrange for an escort." However, before Sheridan even places the request, the omniscient Garibaldi appears and says: "One escort at your service."

Sheridan and Garibaldi discover a way to track Abel Horn. However, Sheridan is having some technical difficulties and Garibaldi says: "Why not let the wizard have a go? Now, all we have to do is cross reference with the medlab files, find the updated number, log that with E-systems, and voila!...[the door starts opening and shutting with a sick whine]...It's trickier than you thought." Garibaldi exits through the malfunctioning doors and Sheridan calls after him "Thanks, Mr. Wizard!"
