Zathras and his 9 brothers (all named Zathras, but said differently) took care of the machine. In "War Without End," Zathras (110 years old) went aboard the White Star in order to help them control time so they could take Babylon 4 into the past. Zathras later stayed aboard the station to help Sinclair. Zathras was first seen in "Babylon Squared" and we see one of his brothers in "Conflicts of Interest."

Garibaldi figured out that the real Grey 17 was missing and went down to figure out what was going on. He finds out that a man named Jeremiah led a sort-of cult there. Jeremiah believed that one needed to die a perfect death, so they had a Zarg (very deadly animal) down there. Garibaldi ended up killing the Zarg and escaping back into the normal part of the station - where no one believed his story.

Z'ha'dum is where Sheridan went with Anna in the White Star. When he learned the turh about the Shadows, he sent the command for the ship to destroy the capital city. In his mind, as he stood looking down a cliff, he heard Kosh in his mind telling him to jump.

While Sheridan was missing from the station, Delenn, Ivanova, Lyta and Lennier take a ship to the planet to see if they can find Sheridan. They almost lost their lives doing so.
