The first ever episode was shown on Channel Four on Second November 1982. The name Brookside was chosen as a brook ran alongside the Close.

2. The Grants, Bobby and Sheila, moved into the Close in 1982. What were their three children called?

Answer: Barry, Karen and Damon

Sheila had a little girl, called Claire, later on, just before her marriage break up to Bobby.

However Beth arrived back at the house while he was digging and found Sinbad crying, he couldn't go through with it as he didn't believe Trevor deserved to be killed, so Beth explained exactly what he was like and what he did to her and Rachel and they continued the task between them.

Dianne was played by Bernadette "Bernie" Nolan. The others in the group were her sisters - Anne,Denise, Maureen, Linda and Coleen.

Nat and his fiancee Jules were making plans for their wedding day and although Jules was very keen to finalise the arrangements, Nat was less enthusiastic. It later became apparent that although Nat had told Jules he wanted to get married, his sister Georgia was the real love of his life, a situation that had been kept secret from the rest of the family.

Jimmy Corkhill was the last to leave the Close, but not before writing "game over" across all the boarded up properties and leaving the taps running inside each house.
