Crichton has a whole raft of nicknames for Rygel; others include "Guido", "Rugrat" and the more obvious "Ryge". I get the impression that Rygel is not entirely happy with all of these nicknames, as the appearance of a black leather-clad Rygel in the episode "Won't Get Fooled Again" suggests: Rygel is brandishing a whip and promising revenge for a couple of the names Crichton has come up with!

Crichton also came up with "Heavy D" as a nickname for D'Argo in the episode "Suns and Lovers", perhaps in reference to the rap group "Heavy D and the Boys". While D'Argo was deeply suspicious of the human Crichton on their first meeting, he and Crichton develop a strong friendship and often provide some of the show's funniest moments - who could forget Crichton teaching D'Argo the game of Rock, Paper, Scissors?

Answer: Sikozu

Sikozu, whose full name is the mouthful Sikozu Svala Shanti Sugoysi Shanu, made a spectacular entrance in the episode "Crichton Kicks" by crashing straight into the Leviathan in which Crichton was sheltering. Crichton's nickname for Sikozu must surely come from comparing her unusual hairstyle to the many antennae of the early Earth man-made satellite Sputnik.

"Wrinkles" makes an appearance a couple of times as well! Noranti is an Utu of her people, meaning that she is the equivalent of a doctor or a healer, a talent which comes in very handy for Moya's crew. While she is often absent-minded and occasionally narcoleptic ("Lava's a Many-Splendored Thing"), her wealth of knowledge comes in extremely useful for her crew mates, as does her good cooking!

Zhaan's wisdom and serenity were much valued by the crew of Moya and all mourned her death at the end of the "Self-Inflicted Wounds" storyline. Crichton's nickname for Zhaan is an affectionate one, and probably one of his most literal, given her blue skin tone.

Answer: His Scorpius neural clone

Crichton's nickname for the Scorpius neural clone inside his head, which appears to him in vivid hallucinations, is one of the show's many Earth pop-culture references. The 1950 movie "Harvey" tells the story of a man with an imaginary friend who appears to him as a six foot-tall rabbit, which the man calls Harvey.

However, no-one else can see Harvey, which is where the parallel with Crichton's neural clone comes in, as the latter can be seen by no-one except Crichton.

Answer: Commandant Cleavage

Commandant Mele-On Grayza's uniform undoubtedly gives rise to this gem - cut almost down to her navel, it doesn't leave much to the imagination! However, there is a reason for the overexposure: Grayza's chest has a Heppel oil implant, whose secretion she can use as a seduction tool. Crichton fell victim to this in the "What Was Lost" two-episode story arc.

Answer: Grasshopper

Yet another one of the show's pop-culture references, "Grasshopper" refers to the "Kung Fu" movie and television series, wherein the mentor refers to his student as "Grasshopper". Crichton obviously likens his situation to that of the mentor, as he is the one with the wormhole knowledge that Scorpius desperately wants.

Answer: Chiana

Chiana, a young Nebari, joined the crew of Moya towards the end of the first season as a prisoner of her people, who wanted to cleanse her brain and reprogram her into something more biddable. She is impulsive and sometimes reckless, with those traits often getting her into trouble. Crichton quickly becomes fond of Chiana, and looks upon her as more or less a younger sister.

Answer: Jool

Joolushko Tunai Fenta Hovalis is a member of the Interion race, whose people value intelligence and scholarship. Jool, as she is quickly dubbed by Moya's crew, feels herself far superior to any aboard Moya, meaning that she finds it hard to fit in with her new shipmates.

However, her vast store of knowledge (as well as a scream that can melt metal) makes her an asset to the crew and she is saddened when she leaves them at the end of the episode "What Was Lost - Resurrection".
