Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Harris Trinsky is the slightly older geek who Sam, Bill and Neal always turn to for advice. He's also the dungeon master when they play Dungeons and Dragons. What is his girlfriend's name?

Answer: Judith

Harris was played by Stephen Lea Sheppard, and appeared in half of the episodes. Harris mentions Judith on several occasions, such as when the guys are discussing what Sam should get Cindy for their date. They ask Harris what he gets for Judith. He says she usually likes scented bath oils and plenty of time with her man (to which all the guys go "Ewwwww"). Sam, Neal and Bill also asked Harris advice about how to handle Sam's bully, the meaning of a dirty joke, and how to impress Maureen. Daniel even sought out Harris for advice when Lindsay told the freaks they were losers. Stephen Lea Sheppard has also appeared in "The Royal Tenenbaums".
2. Sam Weir is a kid who wants to grow up, and yet still wants to hang on to some bit of childhood (like trick or treating one last time). Who played Sam?

Answer: John Francis Daley

Sam had ups and downs at high school. He was locked out of the locker room naked by his bully, Alan, but then everyone thought he was cool because he streaked. He liked Cindy and wanted her to be his girlfriend, but wasn't sure he was ready for the things that come with having a girlfriend, like making out all of the time. John Francis Daley, who has also appeared in "View From the Top", was a series regular on "The Geena Davis Show" and played a recurring character on "Boston Public".
3. Cindy Sanders is a cheerleader, but she's also friendly with Sam, Bill and Neal. What TV show does she tell Bill that she watches?

Answer: The Muppet Show

Cindy's parents don't let her eat junk food, so it's no surprise she doesn't watch much TV. Bill tells Cindy about "Welcome Back, Kotter", and she makes the comment about "The Muppet Show". The next day at school, Cindy tells Bill that she saw "Welcome Back, Kotter", and Mr. Woodman was really funny. Cindy was Sam's dream girl, but after he actually began dating her, he found that they were totally incompatible and had to break up with her. Cindy was played by Natasha Melnick, who has also appeared in "Orange County" and "Go".
4. Bill Haverchuck was a total geek who was very comfortable being the way he was. Bill's parents had divorced and he was close to his mom. What was her nickname for Bill?

Answer: Little man

Bill's mother even wrote his nickname on his lunch bag, which Alan saw and teased Bill about. Bill was best friends with Sam and Neal and the three of them did everything together. Bill was a one-of-a-kind character and probably the most-loved by fans. He was played by Martin Starr, who has also appeared in "Cheats" and "Stealing Harvard", as well as a recurring role on "Roswell".
5. Gordon Crisp was in the same gym class with Neal, Sam and Bill. The four of them were also in another class together. Which was it?

Answer: Biology

Gordon Crisp was the overweight boy who Sam was partnered with in Biology. Gordon has a condition which causes him to smell bad (which I won't attempt to spell), so at first, Sam isn't very friendly to him. After Gordon offers good advice regarding Sam's quest for Cindy, Sam realizes how nice Gordon is and he, Neal and Bill start being friends with Gordon. Jerry Messing played Gordon Crisp.

He has also appeared in "Finding Kelly", "Addams Family Reunion" and in a recurring role on "Even Stevens" (which starred Shia LaBeouf who played Herbert, the Norseman mascot, in the "Freaks and Geeks" episode "We've Got Spirit").
6. Neal Schweiber would often bring up his religion during conversations with Bill and Sam. What religion was he?

Answer: Jewish

Neal always thought of himself as being more mature than Sam and Bill. He thought of himself as a man because he had been Bar Mitzvah'd, but Bill and Sam were always reminding him that meant he was a man only in his religion, not in the real world. Neal always seemed to be more knowledgeable about finding an angle for something, like the 'Spin the Bottle' technique.

But in the end, he didn't do any better than Bill. Samm Levine has also appeared in "Not Another Teen Movie", "Anderson's Cross", in a recurring role on TV in "Life As We Know It", and has guested on "Quintuplets", "That 70s Show", "Ed" and "The Drew Carey Show".

He originally auditioned for the role of Sam on "Freaks and Geeks", but was cast as Neal, and did an excellent job.
7. Todd Schellinger was the star player on McKinley High's basketball team. Who did he date?

Answer: Cindy

Sam didn't like Todd at first, but after Todd talked to Sam in the locker room before the big basketball game, Sam had a different view of him (even though Todd started dating Sam's beloved Cindy). Riley Smith played Todd Schellinger in five episodes of "Freaks and Geeks".

He has also appeared in "Radio", "New York Minute" and "Bring It On", as well as in recurring roles on TV in "24", "Gideon's Crossing" and "Joan of Arcadia".
8. Alan White was your typical high school bully who took on Sam, Neal and Bill as his victims. Which of the following did Alan NOT do?

Answer: Ring the fire alarm to get out of a test

Alan was in the same gym class as Neal, Sam and Bill, and taunted them at every opportunity. He inspired Sam's naked dash through the halls after locking Sam out of the locker room with no towel; he didn't believe Bill's announcement that eating a peanut could kill him and slipped one in Bill's sandwich; Alan and his friends stole all the Halloween candy from Harris, Sam, Neal and Bill.

He seems like the kind of person who would ring the fire alarm to get out of a test, but he was never shown doing so. Daniel was attempting to set off the alarm one time, but Mr. Rosso caught him. Alan White appeared in half of the episodes.

He was played by Chauncey Leopardi who has also appeared in "The Sandlot", "Casper" and "Houseguest", as well as a recurring role on "Gilmore Girls".
9. At school, what was Vicki Appleby the captain of?

Answer: cheerleaders

Vicki appeared in five episodes of the show, usually in her cheerleading outfit. Didn't she look so 80s with her hair french braided? In "We've Got Spirit", Cindy described Vicki as bossy, which seemed to fit her. At Mona's party in "Smooching and Mooching", Vicki got stuck spending seven minutes in heaven with Bill.

At first she told him not to even think about touching her, but after they talked, she found him so endearing that she started kissing him. Vicki was played by Joanna Garcia. She has also appeared in "American Pie 2" and "Not Another Teen Movie", and as a regular on the TV series "Are You Afraid Of The Dark?" and "Reba".
10. Eli was a special student who was very friendly. He helped Neal, Bill and Sam to get Maureen away from Vicki by going up to her and discussing "Three's Company". Who did Eli dance with at the Homecoming Dance?

Answer: Lindsay

Eli appeared in the pilot episode and "Carded and Discarded". Lindsay asked Eli to go to the Homecoming Dance with her after she heard him ask a girl who turned him down. Another kid started picking on Eli and Lindsay stepped in. Later during gym, Lindsay told Eli that the kids he was talking to were making fun of him because he was retarded.

He got very agitated and corrected her, saying he was not retarded, but special. She realized her mistake and apologized, but Eli said he didn't want to go to the dance with her.

He ran off down the bleachers and fell, breaking his arm. He was at the dance by himself, and danced with Lindsay after she came over and asked him. Eli was played by Ben Foster, who has also appeared in "Big Trouble" and "Get Over It", and played recurring character Russell Corwin on "Six Feet Under".
