Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is the surname of the family "Kingswood Country" revolves around?

Answer: Bullpitt

Here's one quote from Ted Bullpitt when on the phone. "This is Ted Bullpitt...No! Bull-PITT...yeah, everyone says that."
2. Who is the patriarch of the family in "Kingswood Country"?

Answer: Ted

Another of Ted's quotes was "Pickle me grandmother!"
3. Who was the long suffering and very patient matriarch of the "Kingswood Country" family?

Answer: Thelma

Thelma seemed either oblivious to Ted's at times obnoxious behaviour or she treated him indulgently like a child who was too young to know better.
Wilma and Betty are from "The Flintstones" and June was Beaver's mum in "Leave It To Beaver".
4. What model of car did the family own, the subject of the patriarch's careful ministrations in "Kingswood Country"?

Answer: Holden Kingswood

Ted was completely obsessed by his car. If anyone asked to borrow the Kingswood he would come up with an outrageous excuse such as "The Kingswood! You're not taking the Kingswood!...I've just polished the number-plate!" Another excuse was that he'd just "shampooed the mudflaps".

The Kingswood was made by General Motors Holden, a subsidiary of General Motors Company (USA). The Kingswood was later replaced by the Commodore which Ted eventually bought and treasured as much as the Kingswood.
5. The family in "Kingswood Country" lived in Sydney, Australia. In which street and suburb did they live?

Answer: Wombat Crescent, Goanna Heights

I've found two Wombat Crescents in Australia but neither are in New South Wales. There is no suburb called Goanna Heights.
6. There were children in the "Kingswood Country" family too. What were their names?

Answer: Greta and Craig

Greta is far too much of a feminist for Ted's anachronistic viewpoint. Marrying the son of Italian immigrants was a totally inconceivable thought for Ted. Ted and his son-in-law (Bruno) had an antagonistic relationship with the son-in-law usually winning the battle. Craig was a medical student without a regular girlfriend. Ted thought his son had a much too modern and relaxed attitude to life, far too hippie like!

Bruno copped it from Ted, being called "Bloody Wog" and "Spaghetti Head" many times over.
7. "Kingswood Country" was a spin off from a skit in which other Australian TV show?

Answer: "The Naked Vicar Show"

"The Naked Vicar Show" was a satirical comedy show which started on radio and then made its way to television in 1977. It only lasted 2 years on TV but "Kingswood Country" lasted five. "The Mavis Bramston Show" was on TV in Australia in the 1960s. "Hey Hey It's Saturday" and "Certain Women" were long running TV shows in Australia also.
8. What did our patriarch in "Kingswood Country" say whenever someone helped themselves to one of his beers?

Answer: "Leave the money on the fridge!"

"Leave the money on the fridge" has slipped into the Aussie vernacular, being applied to more than just beer. As for Ted drinking a chardonnay? There is more chance of Ted becoming the Pope!
9. The matriarch of the "Kingswood Country" family entered a recipe contest and won. The prize was a visit from the "King of Australian TV", Graham Kennedy. What recipe won the competition for her?

Answer: Meatloaf

Graham Kennedy won many accolades during his time on Australian television and was called "The King". Thelma's recipe of "Graham Kennedy Meatloaf" won the Bullpitts the opportunity to have Graham Kennedy dine at their house. Thelma made her prize winning meatloaf but a mix-up created by Ted sees Graham Kennedy being fed the canned dog food meant for Ted's greyhounds.
10. One of the "characters" of "Kingswood Country" was spoken of yet only seen in the credits. What was the name of the ornamental concrete aboriginal that was the showpiece of the front yard?

Answer: Neville

A piece of Australian nostalgia. Other countries may have had their pink flamingos but some Australian gardens had a concrete aboriginal.
