Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Quark and Rom are crawling through a series of Jefferies tubes, knocking down a panel that's sealing one of the crawlspace exits and accidentally arriving in the office of a very surprised Captain Sisko.

Answer: The Magnificent Ferengi

Towards the beginning of this hilarious sixth-season Ferengi adventure, Quark has just informed his brother about their mother being held prisoner by The Dominion. Rom had been working inside some unknown area of the Jefferies tubes onboard the station upon receiving the bad news, so as the two siblings talk, they begin a rather longish trek through the station's interior corridors. Except they end up taking a wrong turn, kicking out a wall panel that lands on the floor inside Captain Sisko's office, much to the captain's surprise (and I would presume disappointment and a bit of disgust as well, given the rude intrusion).
2. Jadzia Dax is down on a planet, using a hand-held alien device instead of her tricorder to scan for lifeforms, but the device she's holding vanishes when she walks too far a distance away.

Answer: Shadowplay

After tracking down the source of the omicron particles down on the alien planet, Dax and Odo soon find themselves assisting the inhabitants with finding the missing people who have mysteriously 'disappeared'. Dax's tricorder isn't working properly due to her proximity to the reactor device in the town plaza, so she borrows a hand-held scanner from one of the elders. Later, after she, Odo and the little girl have traversed the steep hillside and come into a clearing, her scanner suddenly vanishes from her hands, much in the same way that a portion of the little girl's arm vanishes when she tries to hand Odo a bunch of berries.

It's then determined that all of the inhabitants, except for their flesh-and-blood creator, are actually holograms, and that there's an invisible boundary preventing the people from exiting into other areas of the planet's valley.
3. Keiko establishes a school onboard the station, with her first two students being Jake and Nog.

Answer: A Man Alone

Concerned about the welfare of the children on board the station and faced with the dilemma of feeling useful in some capacity since leaving the Enterprise, Keiko kills two birds with one stone when she approaches Commander Sisko about opening up a school.

This would allow the wife of Chief O'Brien to be a teacher while giving the children something to do other than engaging in mischievous behavior. At the very end of the episode, the first day of class is in session. Initially, the classroom is completely empty, but eventually, Jake and a rebellious Nog, plus a couple of other girls, arrive and become Keiko's very first students.
4. Commander Sisko constructs an ancient Bajoran ship in this episode.

Answer: Explorers

A truly beautiful trek adventure and one of my personal favorites from the third season, this episode sees Commander Sisko setting out to prove an historic Bajoran tale about a ship that traveled all the way to Cardassia at sub-light speed. He builds a ship of his own from scratch using the exact specifications that the Bajorans used, then invites Jake to come along for the voyage.

The commander's son is reluctant at first, but soon has a change of heart and decides to join his Dad onboard the butterfly-looking vessel, the two getting to enjoy some father/son time while exploring the stars just like the ancient Bajorans did.
5. A Klingon is seen playing an accordion and singing a tune in the Klingon language in this episode.

Answer: Playing God

When Dax invites the new Trill initiate to dinner onboard the station, we see them in a kind of a 'Klingon buffet' parlor with the entire place decked out with Klingon decor. Adding to the ambiance is a Klingon man, who is playing an accordion and singing a rather dreadful tune in the usual robust, untranslatable Klingon speech.

Although the Trill initiate is taken aback by the whole experience--including the trademark 'gagh' served to him on his plate--Dax embraces it all, merrily singing along with the Klingon and happily devouring whatever Klingon delicacy that's on her own plate.
6. Jake rescues Chief O'Brien by physically pulling him out of a Jefferies tube that is ablaze with flames in the habitat ring, shortly after he is ordered not to enter inside and while the entire station itself is set on automatic self-destruct.

Answer: Civil Defense

With DS9 on complete lockdown and on the verge of exploding as a result of the 'booby trap' left behind by the Cardassians, Commander Sisko, Jake and Chief O'Brien eventually manage to escape the ore-processing room and into a corridor in the habitat ring. O'Brien and the commander then enter into a Jefferies tube, which is ablaze with flames and noxious gas, so that they can access a specific computer panel that would enable them to protect the station from the brunt of the explosion.

The commander, however, orders his son to stay behind, but when O'Brien is overcome by the fumes and falls partially unconscious, Jake rushes in to pull the fallen chief engineer back out and into safety.
7. Kira is at Ops when she is violently stabbed in her side as the result of a direct physical confrontation with a Klingon, but her comrades are able to fight off the other Klingon attackers before anyone else at Ops can get injured.

Answer: The Way Of The Warrior

The blood-thirsty Klingons have successfully boarded the station towards the end of episode, engaging in direct physical hand-to-hand combat with various Bajoran and Starfleet security personnel. They eventually manage to make it all the way down to Ops, the location for the final battle where Sisko and a handful of other senior officers put up a glorious fight to resist the alien adversaries. Before victory, however, Bajoran blood is shed when Kira gets stabbed by the knife of one of the Klingons from behind.

She's still able to retaliate and subdue her attacker before she sags onto the floor, gripping her wound and wincing in pain.
8. Dr. Bashir, with Chief O'Brien as his coach, attempts to break Quark's streak of consecutive wins playing Tongo, but a strategic distraction on the part of Quark breaks Bashir's concentration and eventually leads to the doctor losing all of his latinum.

Answer: Change Of Heart

Chief O'Brien is determined to put an end to Quark's consecutive wins streak of playing the Tongo game. But being unable to grasp the game's concept, O'Brien believes his genetically-engineered buddy, Dr. Bashir, will be able to outsmart the station's resident Ferengi bartender. Later on, Bashir is on a hot roll of good fortune once the cards have been dealt and the wheel starts spinning. That's when Quark brings up the subject of Dax, whom he and Bashir mutually agree they lost their chance at romance with.

The ensuing heart-to-heart conversation quickly brings the game's exciting action to a lull and causes the doctor to let his guard down. Bashir eventually shows his hand, but the ever-so-cunning Quark reveals his own to be even better and takes all of the latinum in the pot for himself, suggesting that the whole story about Dax was intended to break the doctor's concentration all along.
9. Worf engages in a formal hand-to-hand combat competition with Jem Ha'dar soldiers while he and a comrade are being held prisoner.

Answer: In Purgatory's Shadow

After Worf and Garak have their shuttle boarded by the Jem Ha'dar, they are taken to a Dominion mining colony on a nearby moon where they are held prisoner. Garak is allowed to stay in the holding cell with General Martok, Dr. Bashir, a Romulan and a Breen, but Worf is forced to partake in a combat competition fighting Jem Ha'dar soldiers one on one in a miniature arena, solely for the entertainment of his captors. Each time Worf or his Jem Ha'dar opponent hits the ground, he must light up one of the penalty beacons stationed alongside the arena's boundary. Worf valiantly defeats every one of his foes in the first part of this two-part episode, but he is too broken and injured to defeat his last opponent, the Jem Ha'dar leader himself, in the two-parter's conclusion, "By Inferno's Light".
10. A Vorta is killed at the hands of non-Dominion allies in all of the following episodes... except this one.

Answer: The Ship

This is a very tricky one! In "The Ship", the only Vorta present is the woman who insists on Captain Sisko and his comrades giving her possession of the derelict Dominion vessel on the planet's surface. She is never killed, as all is well after their Founder is safely recovered from the vessel wreckage.

In a hilarious moment in "The Magnificent Ferengi", the Vorta prisoner being used to negotiate the safe return of Moogie is shot and killed accidentally by the hand-held weapons fire of one of the Ferengi in Quark's small militia.

In "Strange Bedfellows", Ezri Dax and Worf are still being held captive by The Dominion. In one scene, when they are confronted by Damar and Weyoun, an angry and over-aggressive Worf snaps Weyoun's neck, inciting laughter in Damar, who then offers that another copy of the sleazy Vorta will simply be created to replace the dead one.

Then in "Tacking Into The Wind", we see Kira, Garak, Odo and their new Cardassian allies infiltrating the bridge of The Dominion ship commanded by a Vorta woman.

The Vorta is shot by friendly weapons fire from the group, prompting Odo to ask aloud if it was really necessary to kill her (and it was, in my opinion, considering that The Federation and The Dominion were at war).
