1. Who played the titular character?

Answer: Hope Lange

The show lasted two seasons, for a total of 50 episodes.

Hope Lange played Carolyn Muir, a widower with her children. In the series, which ran from 1968-70. Season one was on NBC, and season two was on ABC.

The series starred, Lange, Edward Mulhare, Reta Shaw, and Charles Nelson Reilly.
2. What was Mrs. Muir doing in the opening scene?

Answer: Signing a new lease

She was signing a new lease from the landlord, Claymore Gregg. He was trying to hide details of the contract by covering it with his hand, fingers and thumb.

What he was trying to hide was a $15 increase in the rent.
3. What was the name of the family dog?

Answer: Scruffy

Scruffy the dog was played by Scruffy the dog. Scruffy was a Wire Fox Terrier.

The show was based off of a 1945 book written by R.A. Dick. The book was also turned into a movie in 1947.
4. Claymore Gregg was a known cheapskate. What cost-saving effort was he shown doing just before bed?

Answer: Lying about a phone call to get a credit

Gregg was established as a cheapskate earlier in the episode when "the ghost" spoke about how he'd do anything to make money.

In the scene before bed he called for the time, then as he hung up he dialed the operator, and asked for a credit as he claimed he'd gotten a wrong number.

After speaking with the operator he put a lock on his phone so it couldn't be used.
5. Who did Claymore Greg dream about?

Answer: The Devil

Capt. Gregg (the ghost) made Claymore dream about "an old adversary" of his. As Claymore was dreaming about counting money, the ghost appeared in his bedroom and planted the dream in his mind.
6. What was the name of the publishing house that approached Mrs. Muir?

Answer: Brimstone

This was during Claymore Gregg's dream. The devil's minion, disguised as an unassuming man approached her with a "tempting" deal. Mrs. Muir had never heard of the publishing house before. He said he was hoping to entice her into joining them.
7. What kept appearing on Mr. Turner's head?

Answer: Horns

Mr. Turner, played by Joe Flynn, kept having his horns appear while chatting with people in Mrs. Muir's house. At first it happened when he walked inside and took off his hat, and again while talking to Mrs. Muir and her housekeeper.

Flynn was better known for playing a role in "McHale's Navy".
8. How many children did Mrs. Muir have?

Answer: 2

The kids first appeared in the episode while trying to sneak a present into the house. Mrs. Muir wasn't around, but the devil was in the living room. He was disappointed when the kids weren't trying to be be sneaky for nefarious purposes.

Mrs. Muir had both a son and a daughter.
9. What field was Mr. Turner claiming to be in when he spoke to Claymore?

Answer: Realty

He told Claymore that he was with Brimstone Realty. Turner tried to work a deal with Claymore to buy a piece of land for $100,000. The company would put up 75 percent of the money, while Claymore would put up 25 percent.

After Claymore agreed to the deal (which included him embezzling from the town council) Capt. Gregg appeared to the pair and revealed who Mr. Turner was.
10. Which evil character wasn't part of Claymore's trial?

Answer: Hitler

Blackbeard, Jesse James and Nero were the three judges chosen to rule on if Claymore was guilty. If Claymore was convicted of his plan to steal money from the town council, both he and Capt. Gregg would be sentenced to Hell. Capt. Gregg chose to defend the Claymore after he promised to never cheat Mrs. Muir again.
