As the angel Aziraphale stood on the wall watching Adam and Eve leave the garden and wander off into the desert, the snake slithered up next to him and turned into Crawley. Crawley was the first one to ask Aziraphale about the flaming sword, and the angel admitted that he gave it to Adam and Eve because the two would face wild animals in the desert and because Eve was expecting. But when Aziraphale was later sealing up the garden, God (Frances McDormand) asked where the sword was, and the missing sword was mentioned a few more times over the centuries.
