After an argument with her then-boyfriend, "soon-to-be husband", Frank Sinatra, Mia cut off her long blonde signature hair in her dressing room, throwing cast and crew into a frenzy! Her short, pixie style caught on and was a sensation. Farrow was also unhappy with the show, her role as sweet Allison Mackenzie and her long hair which matched her little girl image which was associated with her character.

The dark haired, Canada-born beauty, Barbara Parkins portrayed Betty Anderson. She became a fan favorite from the very first episode. She was so popular that Producer Paul Monash planned a show of her own "The Girl from Peyton Place." Fortunately, the idea was shelved and Parkins stayed on the show for the entire five years.

While still filming "Peyton Place," Parkins starred in another 1960s cult classic "Valley of the Dolls."

Susan Oliver played the very sad Ann Howard, aka Colby. She came back to Peyton Place as an adult, trying to prove her innocence for a crime she knew she did not commit as a child. Poor Ann was in Peyton Place for only five months until she was found dead at the bottom of Sailors Bluff. Oliver originally signed a year-long contract but became restless playing the same character and asked to be released from her contract. Viewers mourned the loss of Oliver as she proved to be very popular.

Former "Peter Gunn" actress, Lola Albright portrayed Constance Mackenzie in 1966 while Malone needed immediate surgery due to blood clots in her legs. Later, Albright said of her time on "Peyton Place", that it was one of the most theatrically challenging roles she had ever taken.

Sandy was married to Lee Webber, an abusive mechanic who worked for Rodney Harrington's garage. Sandy lusted after Rodney even though she was a married woman. Sandy was a waitress at the Cider Barrel and was notoriously known for wearing the tightest sweaters in all of Peyton Place. Coincidentally, Lana Wood, in real-life was married to actor Stephen Oliver who portrayed TV husband, Lee Webber.

He left his Peyton millions to Betty Anderson. Peyton was Betty's number one fan when he first met her to thank her for helping when his grandson Rodney Harrington was standing trial for first-degree murder. Betty stood her ground with Peyton, and he admired her for wanting the best and to one day own Peyton Place. There was a stipulation to his will, she would have to be re-married to his most loved grandson, Rodney at the time of Peyton's death and Betty was already married to another of Peyton's grandsons, Steven Cord.

After enduring a 12-year blacklisting in Hollywood, Lee Grant accepted the role of angry, vengeful, Stella Chernak on "Peyton Place". She was riveting in this role. Barbara Parkins was the only other "Peyton Place" actress nominated for an Emmy but lost out to Barbara Stanwyck for "The Big Valley" in 1965.

The show was presented in color for the remainder of its run. If a viewer were color blind, they were always reminded during the opening of each episode that "In color, this is the continuing story of Peyton Place."

Leigh Taylor-Young portrayed Rachel Wells who appeared after the mysterious disappearance of Alison Mackenzie. In her possession, Rachel had a charm bracelet that Allison's father had given to Allison. Let the mystery begin. Leigh Taylor-Young and "Peyton Place" heartthrob, Ryan O'Neal began a hot and heavy romance while production was going on.

They were married in 1967 and divorced in 1972. Young gave birth to their son, actor Patrick O'Neal in 1968.
