Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Finish the lyrics from the theme song: "Pinwheel, Pinwheel Spinning around. Look at my pinwheel _____________".

Answer: "And see what I've found"

This song has the incredible power of getting lodged in your brain FOREVER. It was cute the first 437,628 times I heard it, but now it's getting a bit like the "meow mix" jingle. I want to scream when I hear it.
2. Which character had "sound boxes" and spent a considerable amount of time hanging out with the hobo bugs?

Answer: Jake

Jake was probably the most normal of all the characters on the show. That is, if you consider spending your days with bird puppets and "sound boxes" normal.
3. What sort of organization did the "Bert and Ernie-esque" Plus and Minus create?

Answer: A detective agency

I think their most pressing case involved a lost football. Not exactly "CSI" material, but Plus and Minus were great. They taught us all the joy of playing "Gotcha last".
4. What was the name of the newspaper that employed Smitty and Sal?

Answer: "The Daily Noodle"

I don't know how anyone could take a newspaper seriously when its title is "The Daily Noodle".
5. While on the subject of Smitty, what was the name of the elusive bird he was always trying to photograph for the paper?

Answer: The Admiral Bird

According to Smitty, The Admiral bird is the rarest bird in the world. He was pretty obsessive about that bird. Maybe the Admiral Bird should have taken out a restraining order against Smitty.
6. What was the name of the Italian puppet who had a vegetable stand in the yard?

Answer: Luigi O'Brien

All I can remember about Luigi is that he resembled a large squash, wore a red hat, and spoke with a bad Italian accent.
7. Ebeneezer T. Squint was so much like Oscar the Grouch that I'm surprised he didn't cause a lawsuit. Where in the house did that crabby green guy live?

Answer: The basement

Ebeneezer T. Squint has been called Oscar the Grouch without a conscience. He collected weeds and his life-long ambition was to make the cover of "The Daily Noodle".
8. The next three questions will focus on a few of the strange European shorts "Pinwheel" aired. What was the name of the strange little boy who would daydream in a tree while his astoundingly fat grandfather napped under it?

Answer: Charlie

I don't think I've ever seen a man who resembled a blue beach ball more than Charlie's Grandfather. Now there's a headline for "The Daily Noodle"- 'Man Weighs in a 745 Pounds!'
9. As a kid, one of my favorite shorts centered on a little girl named Emily. Not surprisingly, the segment was entitled "Emily". In the short, what color does Emily always wear?

Answer: Red

Emily sang a very off-key theme song in which she introduced her family and announced that she always wore red although sometimes her gloves are green.
10. In what is perhaps "Pinwheel's" most recognizable cartoon (thanks to Mike Myers and an "SNL" skit) a young boy would create chalk images and then scale a fence and watch them come to life. What was his name?

Answer: Simon

This show did not take place in a bathtub and no one even mentioned (much less looked at) anyone else's bum, but it was still weird enough to be entertaining.
