Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the first leg of the race, teams ascended Canton Tower, looking for clues in which of these?

Answer: Ferris wheel cars

This first and second legs of the race both focused on the massive Chinese city of Guangzhao where teams had to travel after a short start in California. Teams flew there and hunted for clues in the bridal district before making their way to the ferris wheel at the top of the Canton Tower, depicted, at which point they had to hop into a bubble and wait for their clue to appear.

This clue, found in every other bubble on the ride, informed them that they had to travel to their next route marker at the stadium on the river.

The second leg of the race continued through Guangzhou, making the city the only stop for two teams (Natalie and Nadiya and Mark and Mallory).
2. Leg 3 of the race ended off at the floating village of Tanjung Aru, a destination on what island?

Answer: Borneo

Finally heading out from Guangzhou, China at the start of Leg 3, teams commenced a trip through the wilderness of Malaysian Borneo outside of Kota Kinabalu. After descending down a waterfall and taking a ride down some river rapids on a do-it-yourself raft, teams raced through the city to the neighbourhood of Tanjung Aru, a unique floating town off the shore of Kota Kinabalu. Joey and Meghan, who arrived on the later flight, were foiled by bad taxi decisions and were eliminated upon their arrival at the mat.
3. The skyline of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia served as the backdrop for a Detour completed by how many teams in Leg 4?

Answer: Eight

By Leg 4, three of the eleven teams that started the race had been eliminated (two in China and one in Malaysia), so after a quick flight from Kota Kinabalu, the remaining eight teams found a Detour task waiting for them at a route marker in front of the Petronas Twin Towers.

Heading to the Trader's Hotel nearby, all eight teams split up to complete either 'Mix Master' or 'Master Mix' for their Detour and, upon completion, taxied to the famous Batu Caves to close out this late-night leg of the race.

It turned out to be a non-elimination leg, all said and done.
4. In Leg 6, teams arrived at the Rambukkana Railway Station and the Millennium Elephant Foundation, both in what nation?

Answer: Sri Lanka

Both Legs 5 and 6 took teams in and around the city of Colombo, Sri Lanka and, eventually, along the beautiful coastline surrounding the island nation. In Rambukkana, teams found a Detour task at the Millennium Elephant Foundation where teams had the chance to work with elephants directly or make paper with their dung.

After two legs in Sri Lanka, the racers whittled themselves down to seven teams (Margie and Luke were eliminated in Sri Lanka in Leg 5) and ended off the non-elimination Leg 6 on the beaches of Mount Lavinia.
5. During the seventh leg of the race, teams visited the Spanish Steps for which of these types of tasks?

Answer: Road Block

The Spanish Steps task proved to be one of the most confusing for the teams in every regard. Not only did teams need to find the location using a cryptic clue leading out of the Detour, but they had to choose one team member for the Road Block, a task involving counting the steps on the Spanish Steps and adding that number to a Roman numeral.

When team members finally got the right number, they could race on foot to the next Pit Stop. This footrace pushed three teams to the back of the pack in one of the closest finishes thus far, and Jessica and John (who led a portion of the leg) were eliminated.
6. At the end of the race's eighth leg, the top six teams checked into the Pit Stop in the Piazza del Duomo in which Italian city?

Answer: Orvieto

The eighth leg of the race, an entirely self-driven affair, sent teams northward from Rome completing tasks in the cities of Bagnoregio and Orvieto and saw the use of a Double U-Turn and the race's second Express Pass, both at the unique community known as Civita di Bagnoregio.

This culminated in a Road Block in a monastery outside Orvieto and a race to the Pit Stop in front of the city's Duomo. Brendon and Rachel claimed another win, this time taking $7,500 each for their prize, while Flight Time and Big Easy struggled to keep up and were eliminated.
7. The Chapel Bridge, shown here, was a destination visited by teams in the ninth leg of the race, taking them to what European nation?

Answer: Switzerland

Teams raced up through Italy in Legs 7 and 8 before continuing northward by train to the city of Chiasso, Switzerland and onward into the Alps for Leg 9, stopping off for a handful of tasks in the central city of Lucerne before turning their attention to the alpine villages and high peaks of the Uri Alps. Teams cleaned up a local hotel and completed some Ford-sponsored trivia before ascending the peaks via gondola for the Road Block and checked in at one of the highest-altitude Pit Stops ever seen on "The Amazing Race" near the top of Mount Titlis. No one was eliminated.
8. During Leg 10, some teams raced through the Santa Cruz neighbourhood of Seville, Spain dressed as which of these?

Answer: Bulls

Although the racers weren't officially just bulls, the bumper balls they slid into for the 'Running With the Ballz' Detour option in Seville, Spain certainly led them to get aggressive. This task, an alternative to learning the flamenco in the other Detour option, forced teams to fit down narrow city streets to locate parts of a secret message, but along the way they were assaulted by other bull balls and knocked over repeatedly.

This leg of the race, for the final five, also led to a "Barber of Seville-themed" Road Block and the return of the Double U-Turn which, like in "The Amazing Race 18: Unfinished Business", got Jet and Cord sent home.
9. Visiting Wales for a brief spell in Leg 11, teams visited the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct for which of these?

Answer: Road Block

In the first instance in any "Amazing Race" iteration, teams stopped off for a task in the nation of Wales, grabbing a Road Block clue and riding along the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. The other tasks sent teams to London, Liverpool, and the rural countryside and estates around Chester, England competing in local pastimes past and present.

The leg also set the stage for the finale, eliminating Leo and Jamal (once again in the penultimate leg) in fourth place.
10. What was teams' final destination city in "The Amazing Race 24"?

Answer: Las Vegas

Teams flew from London to Las Vegas, Nevada in the final leg of the race, taking on Sin City for a nighttime last round of tasks commencing in the Mojave Desert on the outskirts of the city, meeting up with David Copperfield for a Road Block, visiting the Neon Boneyard, working high up at the Mirage, and performing a skydive for the last task.

In the end, Dave and Connor narrowly beat Caroline and Jennifer to take the million dollar prize, crossing the finish line at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and becoming the first parent-child team in the U.S. version of the show to win the race.
