Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which wish was NOT seen on screen during the episode "Wishful Thinking"?

Answer: A dog that could talk

Todd (Ryan Grantham) was tired of being picked on, so when young Audrey (Nicole Leduc) told Todd that wishing well was true, Todd wished to be super strong and to strike fear in his peers. Audrey wished first, and got a life sized Teddy Bear. The only problem was that he was suicidal when he learned the state of the world, but couldn't kill himself.

The first wish was cast by Wes Mondale, who made Hope fall totally in love with himself. He was the one who placed the coin in the fountain at the Chinese restaurant. Audrey's parents wished to be in Belize, so she was sure that is what had happened to them.

A teenager wished for invisibility at will, which was the first wish seen on screen for the audience.
2. Why couldn't Dean remove the coin from the wishing well in "Wishful Thinking"?

Answer: He wasn't the one who put it there

Sam and Dean found the unusual coin fixed to the bottom of the well. In order to prove to Sam it was a real wishing well, Dean made a wish of his own. He wished for a big Italian sandwich. It came in the door the instant he made the silent wish, but later gave him intestinal problems. That confirmed that the wishes were going badly after being granted. And, a town where every wish was coming true lent itself toward chaos.

The coin had caused entire towns to self destruct in the past.
3. "Wishful Thinking"- Did Wes Mondale remove the coin from the fountain and allow the Winchesters to destroy it?

Answer: Yes

The men had practically convinced Wes to do the right thing, and were on their way to get it done. Sam and Wes were standing outside the restaurant when Sam was struck dead by a bolt of lightning from out of nowhere. It turned out that a desperate and love sick Hope had wished him dead to save her relationship with Wes. She'd overheard the men discuss the coin back at Wes' house. Wes had no choice but to remove the coin and end all of the wishes in order to bring Sam back to life. As soon as he did it, Hope no longer had any idea who he was. But, Teddy Bear still had a hole in his head from when he tried to kill himself with a shot gun. He was small again and Audrey's parents were home from Belize, but Teddy's hole remained. He wasn't named Teddy in the episode, Audrey had given him his own name.

Ted Raimi played Wes Mondale. Ted's brother is the famous director Sam Raimi. Ted can be seen playing in dark movies like "The Grudge" a lot, but was also in "Spider Man 2 and 3" and on "Xena Warrior Princess".
4. "I Know What You Did Last Summer"- Who was the young woman who could hear the angels talking?

Answer: Anna Milton

Anna had been perfectly normal before that started, but the Winchesters found her in a mental ward. She couldn't see the angels, nor communicate with them, but she had heard of the Winchester men. Actress Julie McNiven played Anna.
5. "I Know What You Did Last Summer"- Where did Anna go when she was hiding out from Alastair the demon?

Answer: a church

Sam and Dean were able to figure out where she'd gone based on a photo she'd been in, of her standing in front of the same church. It was unusual that Anna's doctor so freely dispensed her medical condition, even if she believed the Winchesters to be law enforcement. Medical professionals to do not generally reveal much about a patient's condition without a court order.
6. "I Know What You Did Last Summer"- As seen in the movie "Girl Interrupted", with what real life mental patient did Dean compare Anna?

Answer: Susanna Kaysen

Dean referenced the title of the film, specifically calling Anna 'Girl Interrupted'. They were trying to figure out Anna's experience and locate her. Susanna Kaysen, played in the film by Winona Ryder, was a depressed young woman who was sent to a mental hospital in the late 1960s.

She spent about eighteen months there before her release. She wrote the novel about that experience in 1993, and the film was made in 1999. The other three choices are all characters from the 1989 movie "Steel Magnolias".
7. "Heaven and Hell"- Uriel and Castiel came to kill Anna, stating she was far from innocent. Who was able to send them away, before they could complete their task, by using a blood spell?

Answer: Anna

While all players were present at the execution, so to speak, they were no match for these purported angels. Uriel smacked Ruby across the room and started beating on Dean, while Castiel gently knocked Sam out with a touch of his fingertips. It was Ana, in another room, who used one heck of a blood spell to cast out these beings.

They found her, arms covered in blood, standing in front of a mirror with her blood in symbols and such. She said the idea for the spell 'just came' to her. This lent a lot of credence to the angels claiming she was not an innocent.

The blood spell was powerful dark magic.
8. "Heaven and Hell"- After experiencing a particularly brutal hypnosis session, Anna awoke remembering what she was; what was she?

Answer: an angel

She reported to Ruby, Sam and Dean that she'd disobeyed and believed that was why she had a death sentence handed down from Heaven. She claimed to have been the boss to Uriel and Castiel before ripping out her "grace" so she could fall to Earth. She gave her human mother the miracle of a baby, when the woman had been infertile beforehand.

After all this news was reported, Ruby stated that they were all basically in deep poo.
9. "Heaven and Hell"- While talking to Dean, how long did Anna say she had been stationed on Earth without ever getting to see God?

Answer: 2000 years

Anna was explaining to him that only four angels had ever seen God's true face. She told Dean that they were expected to believe in God's existence purely on faith. Dean laughed, stating that he could relate to her dilemma.
10. "Heaven and Hell"- Dean finally revealed to Sam what had happened while he was in Hell.

Answer: True

He was torn up as he revealed the truth. Dean said that while it had been only four months on Earth, it had been closer to forty years in Hell. He cried as he revealed that for every day of thirty long years he had been tortured by Alastair. At the end of of each day, he would be made whole again, just so he could have his flesh and limbs torn from his body. Also at the end of each day, Alastair came to him and made him an offer. If Dean would agree to become a torturer himself, he would be freed from the chains himself. For thirty long years Dean declined. Finally, after all hope of home had to have been lost, Dean agreed.

He spent ten years as a torturer in Hell. He told Sam, tears flowing freely, that he wished now he could just stop feeling entirely. Stay tuned for more season four episodes in January 2009!
