Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In episode seventeen, "It's a Terrible Life", the men had their lives redone in a style that they had never been hunters or brothers.

Answer: True

Dean Smith and Sam Wesson (allusion: Smith and Wesson firearms) both worked at Sandover Bridge & Iron for three weeks. Dean was in the corporate sector (sales and marketing), while Sam was in tech support. They were not brothers and had no memories of their real lives.

The episode began with a suited up Dean making espresso while "A Well Respected Man" played over the scene. The song was first released by the Kinks in 1965. When Dean got into his car, the radio blared out hard rock. This new Dean didn't care for it, changed it to talk radio, and gave a satisfied smile upon hearing it. Talk about being in hell!
2. "It's a Terrible Life"- Sam was the first one to realize something more was going on than a normal boring life. Upon trying to convince Dean, Dean revealed these people as his extended family.

Answer: Ellen, Bob and Jo

Ellen and Jo are the mother and daughter pair from season two and Bob would be their friend and fellow hunter, Bobby Singer. Each victim was instructed to go to room 1444 and report to human resources. Dean told Sam that HR was on the seventh floor, and the pair agreed to go check out out.

The found the ghost in the room, killing another man! Afterward Sam gave Dean his destiny speech. Dean found the "Ghostfacers" website, which led them to PT Sandover. He founded the company and died in 1916. Room 1444 was the old man's office, back in the time that the building was only fourteen stories high.
3. "It's a Terrible Life"- Dean's boss, Mr. Adler, turned out to be the one behind the "terrible life" alteration. Which choice accurately describes what Adler was and why he did it?

Answer: an angel - to teach Dean that hunting was in his blood

Adler came in and offered Dean a raise and a tease about spending eight to ten years working non-stop to become a junior vice-president of one division of Sandover. Dean thanked him but turned down the offer, citing his destiny lay elsewhere. Adler got up and touched Dean's forehead and the spell ended. He revealed his name was Zachariah and that he was Castiel's superior. He told Dean that he would do all he was destined to do, despite his resentment and daddy issues.
Kurt Fuller played the angel Zachariah.
4. "The Monster at the End of This Book"- The Winchesters came across a series of novels that retold their stories. The author was a man named Chuck, but what was his pen name, as seen on the book covers?

Answer: Carver Edlund

The author's pen name is an inside joke/homage to executive story editor Jeremy Carver and co-executive producer Ben Edlund. Chuck Shurley was played by actor Rob Benedict. He played Richard on the series "Felicity". Chuck lived in a town called Kripke's Hollow, named after series creator Eric Kripke.
5. "The Monster at the End of This Book"- How was Chuck able to see and retell the story of Dean and Sam Winchester?

Answer: Chuck was a prophet

It was Castiel (actor Misha Collins) that revealed the truth about poor Chuck Shurley. Dean was shocked and not at all impressed, stating that Chuck was "practically a 'Penthouse Forum' writer". He asked Chuck if Chuck had seen this coming, which he had.

He told Dean he didn't want to mention it because writing himself into the story as a prophet was "M. Night level douchiness". That comment was laugh out loud level funny. Castiel explained that Chuck's books would someday be known as "The Winchester Gospel". Zachariah visited Chuck at the end of the episode and asked him if he "saw it". Chuck wanted to warn Sam and Dean, but he was instructed not to do it. Chuck stated that he was going to kill himself, but Zachariah told him they'd just bring him back to life and instructed him to write.
6. In episode nineteen, "Jump the Shark", Sam and Dean discovered that they had a relative they'd never met. What was this person's name?

Answer: Adam

Adam Milligan turned out to be their half-brother. He'd been fathered by John in late 1990, born in 1991. And though significant journal pages were missing, Sam deduced that Adam was truly their father's son. John had aided in the removal of an evil entity from a town in Minnesota all those years ago, but didn't know about Adam until 2004. It was discovered by Sam and Dean that John had come back to the town after he knew about Adam, but never revealed his true lifestyle to the young man.

Jake Abel played Adam Milligan.
7. Did Sam and Dean ever get the chance to meet their brother Adam?

Answer: No

Unfortunately, both Adam and his mother (played by Dedee Pfeiffer) had been killed and eaten by ghouls. Dean was the first to realize the truth after being locked underground inside a tomb. There he found the bodies of Adam and his mother, eaten. Sam didn't realize Adam was a fake until the ghouls had him tied down and ready to be bled.

They explained to him that John had killed their father, and they had been forced to live a rather barbaric lifestyle in the ensuing years. When one took Adam, he acquired Adam's physical appearance, and also his memories.

He called John's cellphone and was told by Dean that John had died. So, the two ghouls decided that a vengeful snack of Sam and Dean would do. Dean killed both ghouls before the could kill Sam. This was in "Jump the Shark".
8. "The Rapture"- Castiel came to Dean in his dream to ask Dean to meet him somewhere. When the Winchesters arrived at the location they found a human man named _________ passed out. What was the human vessel's real name?

Answer: Jimmy

Jimmy had been a religious man when Castiel began chatting with him about a year earlier. He'd been happy to embrace Castiel's presence, though it interfered with his marriage. Well, Castiel had been dragged back to Heaven and Jimmy awoke with the Winchesters looking over him.

He wanted to go home, which Sam instructed was ill advised. Jimmy snuck away while Sam was supposed to be standing guard. He brought demons home with him, and Dean was forced to cut the throat of one of Jimmy's good friends in order to save the family.

In the chaotic struggle a demon infected Jimmy's wife and Sam was seen feasting on demonic blood. In the end, Jimmy traded his humanity to Castiel in order to have his daughter spared from being a vessel. Castiel turned his back on the Winchesters and Dean and Bobby locked Sammy in an iron prison "for his own good".
9. "When the Levee Breaks"- Bobby and Dean tried a little tough love to cure an addiction to demon blood by locking Sam in the demon proof panic room. He was down there for a while, until this person set him free.

Answer: Castiel

Sam hallucinated badly as he craved more demon blood. Ruby couldn't let him out, as the panic room was demon proof. While down there, Sam saw his fourteen year old self, his mom, Alastair and Dean. His mom was the only apparition that told him he was doing the right thing by using blood to become strong enough to defeat Lilith. Dean, having a mini crisis of conscience called upon Castiel to reassure him. During that meeting, Castiel tricked Dean into pledging his full allegiance to God. Well, it seemed like a trick at first, but Dean told Bobby he didn't trust Castiel at all. Later Castiel freed him from his prison so, one could've assumed, Sam would become thing one thing Dean would have to face in order to do God's bidding. I was left feeling like Dean would turn out to be the prophecized 66th seal, and that him killing his own brother would be braking it. Castiel would be Lucifer's number one, not Lilith at all, though she was made to appear as such the entire time.

This would leave the conspirators at Castiel, Ruby and Lilith..
10. "Lucifer Rising"- If it walks like a demon, tastes like a demon, smirks like a demon.. it's a demon! Do not trust it! At long last did Sam find out that Ruby was a sneaky traitor completely in league with Lucifer?

Answer: Yes

As it turned out, Lilith herself was the 66th seal. Her death and subsequent bloodflow opened the door for Lucifer to enter our world. He'd been trapped in some hell place and the door was under a convent. His "son" had embodied a priest back in the early 1970s and slaughtered a bunch of nuns to try and free him, but it did not work. Ruby at long last revealed her true intentions as Sam held Lilith's life in his hands.

She gloated and admired herself at the long con she'd pulled on Sam to make the moment happen. For all her braggadocios ways she received a demon exorcising knife to the torso via Dean Winchester. Dean had been held at bay in a holding room of sorts by Zachariah and Castiel, as Lucifer was set to rise and not even "good" angels would allow Dean to interfere. Castiel, ever the reluctant servant, finally succumbed to Dean's guilt trip and sent Dean to help out Sam.

The season ended with the sound of an enormous crack in reality as, one may assume, Lucifer entered.
