Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. How many queens competed to win "RuPaul's Drag Race UK" (Series 1)?

Answer: Ten

For Ru's first trip across the pond, the contestant field shrunk from the larger groups in the U.S. iteration of the show to a meagre ten UK queens, all from different corners of the British Isles, who would vie to become the UK's next drag superstar. Excluding "All-Stars" seasons of the U.S. show, this was the first season of "RuPaul's Drag Race" (since the inaugural season) to feature so few contestants. Season 1 in the U.S. had only nine queens.
2. In the first runway of the series, the contestants needed to present a look inspired by which of these regal British figures?

Answer: Queen Elizabeth II

The first episode of the series placed the ten competing queens into the work room and pushed them behind the camera for the customary photo shoot challenge (in which they needed to pose with their own severed head a la Anne Boleyn). The maxi challenge, however, was entirely focussed on the runway as the queens needed to bring forth an outfit themed around their being 'The Queen of Their Hometown'. Additionally, the queens needed to produce a second look celebrating the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. Ultimately, The Vivienne won the challenge with her Pete Burns/Liverpool and Balmoral Queen looks while Vinegar Strokes and Gothy Kendoll dropped to the bottom two.

In the end, Vinegar turned out a stronger lip sync to Dua Lipa's "New Rules" and Gothy became 'the Porkchop of "Drag Race UK"'.
3. During the second week of the competition, the queens participated in a parody of what famous British television series?

Answer: Downton Abbey

With nine queens left, the competition shifted from fashion into acting as the participants split into two teams to film melodramatic scenes from "Downton Draggy". What resulted, after a Bond Girl-themed runway, was a loss for the team of five consisting of Scaredy Cat, Blu Hydrangea, Cheryl Hole, Crystal, and Divina Di Campo.

The ones who fell to their bottom for lacklustre performances were Scaredy and Blu, and after a lip sync to Bananarama's "Venus", Scaredy, the youngest in the competition and the only competitor never to perform live, was sent home in ninth place.
4. From where did the queens derive their materials for the 'Posh on a Penny' challenge in week three?

Answer: A car boot sale

The third week was all about design, and after a brief dance around the maypole, the queens went straight to work pulling all that they could out of a car boot (and stripping the car down at the same time) to craft their own garments for the runway. What resulted was two of the older contestants of the season, friends Sum Ting Wong and Vinegar Strokes, falling to the bottom and going head-to-head in the lip sync for their lives to Eurythmics' "Would I Lie to You?". Strokes went home after her second time in the bottom.
5. Which of these celebrities was not impersonated during 'Snatch Game' in this series?

Answer: Twiggy

During the fourth week of the competition, the seven remaining queens had the opportunity to go head-to-head in the classing "RuPaul's Drag Race" staple, 'Snatch Game', which required them to bring their best celebrity impersonations to the table and play some "Blankety Blank" with celebrity guests (in this case, Lorraine Kelly and Stacey Dooley).

While Twiggy was a judge in week three, she was not portrayed. Other celebrities seen this time around were Julia Child, Rue McClanahan, Gemma Collins, and Sir David Attenborough.

After a 'Weird Science' theme on the runway, Sum Ting Wong was sent packing.
6. In week five, the remaining queens split into two teams of six to perform in their own girl groups, uniting and then splitting for what original song?

Answer: Break Up (Bye Bye)

Six queens remained going into week five and following a 'Reading is Fundamental' mini-challenge, the queens were split into two groups of three, both of whom needed to create original lyrics and dance moves to be able to perform a girl group song on the main stage.
Crystal, Cheryl Hole, and The Vivienne became Filth Harmony while Blu Hydrangea, Divina Di Campo, and Baga Chipz became Frock Destroyers. The latter group won the challenge this week while The Vivienne had her first lip sync for her life against second-timer Crystal. Crystal went home.
7. Week six gave the queens a branding challenge. In this one, what did the final five need to create an advertisement for?

Answer: Bottled water

With only five queens remaining, RuPaul had the competitors think about their personal brands as they promoted their own brands of bottled water. They had to design everything: the ad, their look, their scripts, the packaging, etc. Once filmed, they had to present their Rainy Day Eleganza on the runway and view their commercials with the judging panel.

The challenge resulted in The Vivienne's third win of the competition (and a RuPeter Badge) and sent Cheryl Hole and Blu Hydrangea to the bottom to lip sync to guest judge Cheryl Cole's song "Call My Name".

It sent Blu home.
8. This season, the queens' makeover challenge involved putting whom in drag?

Answer: Family members

The final four had a daunting task for the penultimate week of the competition since it was the opportunity for Ru to introduce the drag family realness challenge, bringing out the queens' mothers and sisters and asking that they be made up in drag for a duo runway presentation.

As a result, Baga and The Vivienne had their mothers to be dragged up and Cheryl and Divina had their sisters show. Divina won the challenge and her third RuPeter Badge, but Baga and Cheryl were placed into the bottom two and forced to lip sync their way into the finale. Cheryl was the last to be sent home, being the only member of the final four without a win under her belt.
9. During the finale episode, the final three queens performed to which song on the main stage?

Answer: Rock It (to the Moon)

With all three queens in the finale bearing three RuPeter Badges, the playing field seemed pretty well even. For their final week, the competitors needed to learn choreography for the main stage with AJ and Curtis Pritchard to perform RuPaul's "Rock It (to the Moon)".

In addition to the demanding dance moves, they had to create their own verse for the song and then visit Ru and Michelle for their own episodes of the podcast "What's the Tee?" When this was done, Ru would select one of the three to sashay away and the final two would lip sync for the crown.
10. Which queen was crowned the winner of "RuPaul's Drag Race UK" series 1?

Answer: The Vivienne

After a Final Three Eleganza Extravaganza theme on the runway, the deliberations for the final three queens commenced and RuPaul asked Baga Chipz to sashay away in third place. This left Divina de Campo and The Vivienne to compete for the crown in a final lip sync to "I'm Your Man" by Wham!.

After this last performance, RuPaul crowned The Vivienne the first winner of "RuPaul's Drag Race UK", awarding her the title and an all-expenses-paid trip to Los Angeles to star in her own show on World of Wonder.
