Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Scarlett and her parents move into a new home in what U.S. city?

Answer: Los Angeles

Scarlett sits in the backseat of her parents' car en route to their new home. Everyone seems in good spirits-- including her, even though she can barely tolerate her fathers singing along to "A Whiter Shade of Pale" on the radio. She texts her friend, Shanti, saying that she can't believe where they're moving-- they're off to Los Angeles. It's only a matter of time before they pull up in front of their new abode, a building known to many in the area as a murder house.

Scarlett wanders the building for the first time on her own to find that the place is a bit of a wreck. As she moves into her new bedroom, she settles in. Her parents, meanwhile, plan their renovations; they plan to flip the house.
2. Where does Scarlett first find the rubbersuit?

Answer: In a closet

Scarlett has apprehensions about the new home believing the place to be a bit of a money pit, especially with the notoriety behind it. The house, however, is the most famous haunted establishment on the West Coast, and if they can flip it then they can market haunted getaways to a group of people eager to spend money on the experience. They have no concern with the alleged curse; ghosts aren't real. Scarlett is promised that no matter what happens, they won't end up homeless and she'll have enough money to go to college.

Scarlett's worries aren't assuaged. As she unpacks her things, a ball rolls into her room through the open door. She puts it down and thinks nothing of it until it rolls into the room again. She goes looking for the culprit but finds something different from what she expected-- a latex gimp suit, hanging in the closet of another room.
3. Scarlett knows Maya from which of these?

Answer: School

Bringing the latex suit back to her bedroom, Scarlett hastily tries it on and steps in front of the mirror. It's only when she dons the mask and turns around that she finds an upsetting face staring back at her. The reflection worries her so much that she quickly takes the suit back off, redresses, and takes it out to dispose of it in the garbage can at the curb.

Scarlett soon comes to terms with starting at a new high school. She catches the attention of one of the other students, Maya, through her incessant staring in class and realizes that there may be a hint of attraction there. She confides in her sole friend, Shanti, that there's something there, but Shanti is realistic about the situation; Scarlett wants desperately for that connection to be real, so she's ignoring the warning signs.
4. As a consequence for her concerning internet habits, Michael and Troy suggest which of the following for Scarlett?

Answer: Therapy

At home, Scarlett fantasizes about Maya in her bedroom and, in her daydream, sees herself choking Maya's throat. That evening, Scarlett's dreams turn more terrifying as she awakens to see the apparition of the rubbersuit above her bed.

It doesn't take long, however, before Scarlett and Maya start texting. Maya invites Scarlett to a sleepover the next weekend, and though it takes a bit of prodding, Scarlett accepts the invitation on the condition that she gets to spend time alone with the host.

Elsewhere in the house, Michael and Troy remove the wallpaper from the living room to reveal the meticulously painted walls underneath, but they stop their work to sit Scarlett down for a talk about the pornography they've been finding in her search history. The talk leads to concern for her well-being and it's far from anything she's comfortable discussing. What results is the threat of grounding her for the weekend, which she talks them out of, and sessions with a therapist.
5. Scarlett accidentally cuts which of her parents with the kitchen knife?

Answer: Troy

Scarlett, returning home from school, heads to her room and finds that her parents have already put the child lock on her internet use. It blocks her search for 'sexy lingerie', but that's not a problem when she turns around to find her closet door creaking open. Inside, on the hook on the door, is the rubbersuit. She snags it and wastes no time in putting it on, grabbing a knife from the block on the kitchen counter when she does.

Up in the master bedroom Michael and Troy are shocked when Scarlett opens their bedroom door. They threaten to call the police as an unearthly black drains from her eyes and she returns to normal, removing the mask and revealing herself inside. She wonders why they would have put the suit back into her closet from the trash, but they demand she take it off and throw it away (again). She refuses, however, claiming that they shouldn't have a say over her thoughts and her desires, and in her anger she accidentally slices Troy's arm. It's enough that they have to go to the emergency room.
6. What happened to Scarlett when she was three years old?

Answer: She was kidnapped

Scarlett sits with her parents and her new therapist to get to the root of the issues she's facing. They all admit to being pranksters, but the therapist tries to reason that showing up in a costume with a knife isn't in the same ballpark as a harmless prank. Troy suggests that it hasn't always been easy to let their protectiveness down; when Scarlett was young, she was kidnapped by a woman who stole their car in a grocery store parking lot. She was missing for ten days.

The therapist is most worried about the house, though. She doesn't believe in haunted houses, but the mere fact that Scarlett is in a house where murders occurred may be dredging up the deep darkness in her psyche and forcing her to come to terms with her bad thoughts.
7. Scarlett's therapist doesn't last longer than the first session. She's killed before she can leave the house, and her body is left where?

Answer: In the basement

The therapist ends the session though Michael and Troy feel that their work is far from done. She insists on setting another family appointment the following week, but she'd like to speak to Scarlett alone earlier than that. Before leaving, she heads to the bathroom and suggests she'll see herself out. The others don't realize that she never left. Following movement towards the basement door, she's stabbed by a man in a rubbersuit.

Not hearing this activity, Michael and Troy inform Scarlett that, in light of the session, they'll be asking her to stay home from the slumber party at Maya's. This, of course, does not go over well. Scarlett storms off, wishing that maybe the kidnapper had kept her instead.

Later that evening, Michael finds the rubbersuit, covered in blood, at the top of the basement steps. Instead of pursuing the issue further, he and Troy toss it into the fireplace, setting it alight.
8. Scarlett is able to sneak off to Maya's slumber party because her parents fall asleep watching which of these?

Answer: "The Crown"

Scarlett receives a text from Maya asking if she's coming to the slumber party and she has no choice but to let her know that she's been grounded 'for stabbing her dad'. Maya, however, sees this as hardcore and suggests that she sneak out. Fortunately, Maya's into that idea. Her dads, passed out in front of Netflix in bed, don't notice her sneaking into the car and driving off.

The slumber party seems to be a quiet one and the girls get their jabs in at Scarlett in quick order. Maya, realizing that Scarlett didn't invite pyjamas, invites her up to her bedroom to get an outfit and it's just the opportunity for them to be alone. The two spend a bit of time making out with one another but Scarlett is, naturally, a bit worried. Their time together results in Scarlett admitting that she likes violent pornography...and as she talks she barely realizes that her phone is receiving notifications.
9. Did Maya actually have a crush on Scarlett?

Answer: No

Scarlett doesn't realize until it's too late that Shanti has been phoning and messaging her to warn her of what's been going on. While Scarlett's been in Maya's room, the girls at the slumber party-- Maya included-- have been livestreaming the whole discussion. The other girls were outside the door the entire time and Maya's phone had been recording from the bathroom. Scarlett flees the house in tears and phones Shanti to find out how much everyone found out. Shanti can do no more than ask her not to look at the comments, but it's clear the situation is bad.

She rushes home, leaves her dads asleep in bed, cries in the shower, and then calls the girls. She has a plan.
10. Where does Scarlett hide the girls' bodies?

Answer: In the walls

Scarlett tells the girls that she plans on killing herself out of humiliation. If they don't arrive at her house in a half an hour, she'll go through with her plan and leave a suicide note, pointing the girls out as the culprits that drove her to commit suicide. Maya and the others take this seriously and, out of fear for their own lives, follow her instructions and arrive at the house before sun-up.

Maya forces all of the girls to head inside to put the issue to an end and they find the doors open for them. Scarlett sends a text instructing them to head to the basement and they descend into the darkness with only their phones as light. They're scared by the sound of cherry bombs, but they don't see the ghosts of the boys who used them.

It's only when they go deeper into the basement and find the other denizens hiding there that they're attacked by Scarlett, wearing the rubbersuit and brandishing a knife. She murders them one-by-one before she removes the mask.

Michael and Troy find Scarlett bricking up a wall in one of the upstairs rooms (with quality enough to impress them and their house flipping sensibilities). They don't think anything of why she might be doing so. After they leave the room, the ghost of Scarlett's therapist asks her to sit down for a session, but Scarlett doesn't think she needs it; she's never felt better.
