Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In 2001 ITV showed a late night cartoon which did short sketches of celebrities and showed a comical view of modern life in Britain. What was the name of this adult cartoon?

Answer: "2DTV"

"2DTV" had extreme sketches about recent news and made them funny. Some sketches combined "EastEnders" with Iraq, England's injury crisis in 2002 and the war on terror with President Bush.
2. In 1999 ITV aired a gripping prison serial called "Bad Girls". The show was set in a fictional prison called Larkhall and tells how women survive in prison. One of the main characters got away with many things in the show such as theft, sexual assault and even murder. What is the name of this evil warden?

Answer: Jim Fenner

"Bad Girls" is both heart warming and gripping. The show is very serious and gives a view on the darker themes in life such as betrayal and drugs. It also gives a view on homosexuality and how women stand up to men. At the end of the sixth series, Jim Fenner locked arch rival Yvonne Atkins in a small cell under the prison.

This is just one of the more evil things Fenner has done in the show.
3. "Distraction" is an adult game show presented by Jimmy Carr. Which of these WOULDN'T you expect to find on the show?

Answer: Drugs

"Distraction" is rather obscene. Contestants have to smash up their prizes such as cars and stereos, answer questions on pasta, eyes and bricks. Many rounds consist of dressing naked elders.
4. "GamesMaster" was a long running video game program which reviewed the latest games and also handed out cheats for them. The GamesMaster in the title was a celebrity head. Whose head was used for the GamesMaster?

Answer: Patrick Moore

Patrick Moore often gave hilarious comments about video games in this long dead Channel 4 series. "GamesMaster" shared its name with a British gaming magazine which covered every available format. This show raised Dave Perry's profile as an executive producer in the video game industry.
5. In what year did "Fawlty Towers" first air on the BBC?

Answer: 1975

It is often hard for me to laugh at a comedy when I am watching by myself, but "Fawlty Towers" is hilarious. The comedy only lasted twelve episodes and starred John Cleese and his ex-wife, Connie Booth. The program showed how a paranoid Basil Fawlty ran a hotel. The stories always ended up with Basil being embarrassed and his crazy excuses.
6. "The Second Coming" aired in 2003 and told how a beer drinking Manchester City Football Club supporter thought he was the son of God. To prove it, what did the 'son of God' have to do in just five days?

Answer: write a third testament

Christopher Eccleston acted well in "The Second Coming" which mixed religion with the 2000 era of Manchester. The main character's family and girlfriend thought he was crazy, until he performed miracles.
7. "I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!" was a landmark for British reality shows. Which of these contestants won the first series?

Answer: Tony Blackburn

Many celebrities have featured on the show including Sex Pistols star Johnny Lydon, Katie "Jordan" Price, Peter Andre and Christine Hamilton. The show was set in a jungle and each series lasted two weeks.
8. "Stick a pony in my pocket, I'll fetch the suitcase from the van" were the opening lines to the theme tune of which British sitcom?

Answer: "Only Fools And Horses"

John Sullivan, the creator of this show wrote and composed the opening and closing themes. The genius behind the working class Trotter brothers was that it was so funny. Most of the episodes were well thought out and were very clever and well organised.
9. Sun Hill is the setting of which soap?

Answer: "The Bill"

"The Bill" first aired in 1984 and is a soap about the police. The show is rather complex and builds strongly on minor characters as well as major ones, as we see the everyday ordeals some people have to face. Many of Great Britain's best loved actors have appeared in the Bill such as Todd Carty and Jeff Stewart.
10. "The Office" was a comedy starring Ricky Gervais. The most unique aspect of this comedy is the style of it. In which style is "The Office" done in?

Answer: Documentary

"The Office" is a documentary style comedy which shows the everyday life of an office in Slough. The show is so popular because of the British humour and characters such as fun loving Ricky and nerdy Gareth Keenan.
