Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Season 1: At the conclusion of "Bubblestand", Squidward shrieks into his wand and finally blows a bubble worthy of being accredited to Squidward's greatness. Then Squidward triumphantly plays his clarinet to SpongeBob and Patrick's cheers. Then out of nowhere, the great bubble comes and lifts Squidward's house off its foundations. His house begins floating rapidly towards the surface, all unbeknownst to Squidward. Does the bubble pop and send Squidward's house (with Squidward still in it) crashing to the ground?

Answer: Yes

It does pop and send poor unfortunate Squidward crashing to the surface. His house is now slanted. It is unknown the nature of the injuries Squidward endures, but he does begin playing his clarinet again, albeit very disoriented. Squidward is once more carried up and away by a bubble in the first season, at the conclusion of "Squidward the Unfriendly Ghost".
2. Season 2: In "Krusty Love", when Mr. Krabs said, "We're not talkin' about this, or this! We're talking about THIS!", what in the world was he doing?

Answer: Making women's figures with his claws

Apparently, a circular figure looks very appetizing to Mr. Krabs. Is he seriously attracted to overweight blowfish? Mr. Krabs and Mrs. Puff have most definitely broken up since the events of "Krusty Love". These days, they have obvious animosity towards one another.

Some examples: Near the end of "Wishing You Well", Mr. Krabs accused Mrs. Puff of stealing the new boat she wished for. In "Growth Spout", in a turn of events, Mrs. Puff thinks Mr. Krabs is stealing her peanut worms from her (although it quite possible she did not realize it was Krabs since it was pitch black outside, and she surely would have identified him to the police when they came had she noticed it was him), and she tosses a blunt instrument at him which hits her fence and, in turn, sends him flying.
3. Season 3: In "Party Pooper Pants", the band "The Bird Brains" sing the song "Underwater Sun". Part of the lyrics go, ..."Karate chop Sandy; see Squid get a ___. Eat a Krabby Patty and foil Plankton's plan!..." What is the missing word?

Answer: tan

The now deceased Lux Interior performed the lead vocals to "Underwater Sun" in real life. The song was WAY better than the main episode. I always thought that was stupid that SpongeBob got arrested just because he didn't invite the police. However, the episodes was not without its good merits.

The Patchy parts just were, in fact, the best. When the episode premiered in May of 2002, it was one of the highest rated shows on basic cable, and drug in nearly four million viewers. So that means nearly four million people back when got to see SpongeBob and Patrick watch Squidward get a tan.

At the end of the episode when Patchy's head is blown off by dynamite. How and/or why does he care about women still if he is just a head?
4. Season 1: At the conclusion of "Squidward the Unfriendly Ghost", SpongeBob and Patrick, determined to send Squidward where he "belongs", to the "great beyond", once and for all, blow a bubble that carries Squidward up above the ocean's surface. He is then harassed by seagulls and fears for his safety. Does the episode then conclude when the bubble pops and Squidward falls screaming to the ground?

Answer: No

The episode's title is an obvious parody on Casper the Friendly Ghost. It is the first episode to mention the Flying Dutchman. SpongeBob read about how when he died his body was used as a window display and now he haunts the seven seas for he was never put to rest.

The voice of the Flying Dutchman (sometimes nicknamed "Dutchy") did not appear until the character's first appearance in "Arrgh!" He is voiced by Brian Doyle-Murray, the brother of Bill Murray.
5. Season 2: In "Squirrel Jokes", before SpongeBob finds his niche, that is, making fun of Sandy, he tells some bad jokes that are not so well received by the crowd. After he tells the pitiful joke about tomatoes, what does a heckler fish in the audience scream out?

Answer: "Oh brother! This guy stinks!"

SpongeBob's jokes in the Komedy Krab just aren't funny. He mentions salt shakers and how you fill them up every night at closing, and asks where it all goes. My goodness how horrible. The one about tomatoes... How was it even a joke? He asks the audience if they are vegetables or fruit, then mentions how you chop 'em up into little slices...

Then a fish says to him, "Hey, funny guy! What smells rotten and puts people to sleep?" and SpongeBob asks him if it was noxious gas. He said, "No! Your act!".

When I was a kid I misheard him and thought he said something else... Then, SpongeBob looks around for something to salvage his bit, and notices a fork on the table... "Did you ever notice how, uh, forks...". ...Oh please! Even Patrick is booing him at this point.

But at last, out of nowhere, he makes a witty observation! He notices how big squirrel's teeth are, and quips you could land a plane on those things! And the rest is history.
6. Season 3: In "The Camping Episode", how often is "Fake Science" circulated?

Answer: Monthly

Patrick held up two editions to the "Fake Science Monthly" magazine. On one, the headline read: "SEA-BEARS AND FAIRYTALES ARE REAL". The other read: "HOW TO STOP A SEA-BEAR!", and explained how to stop and prevent a Sea-Bear attack. Squidward did not listen to its instructions. This is evidenced by the episode's original title, "Squid Gets Mauled".
7. Season 1: In "Hooky", Mr. Krabs laughs hysterically when Squidward informs Mr. Krabs that SpongeBob is not back from his "break". Mr. Krabs then tells Squidward that no one has taken a break at the Krusty Krab since the Chum Famine of what year?

Answer: 1959

"I thought you said SpongeBob was takin' a break. No one's taken a break at the Krusty Krab since the Chum Famine of '59." Little is known about the Chum Famine of '59, other than it most definitely involved Chum in a certain way, and that it occurred in 1959 when Mr. Krabs was either sixteen or seventeen years old (most likely sixteen, unless it transpired late in the year).

In any case, "Hooky" is a timeless classic.
8. Season 2: I'm thinking of an episode from the second season where a key element to the plot takes place inside Oyster Stadium. Which episode am I thinking of?

Answer: The Smoking Peanut

Oyster Stadium would not appear again until the sixth season episode, "Not Normal". To be honest, when I watched the original broadcast of "Not Normal" in 2008, I squealed when I saw it. "The Smoking Peanut" is one of the greatest and most memorable episodes from the second season.

The title of the episode refers to the fact that the damning evidence against SpongeBob was, in fact, the peanut (like a smoking gun). Personally, I don't think that there is any "SpongeBob SquarePants" fan, living or dead, who hasn't imitated or quoted Patrick from this episode.

This episode showcased Patrick at his best. To this day, I don't know why anyone in Bikini Bottom would have attributed tossing a peanut at the great clam, Clamu, would have disturbed her to that intense degree. Stealing a pearl that was actually her egg, on the other hand...
9. Season 3: In which episode from the third season does SpongeBob refer to himself as SpongeBob BacksassPants?

Answer: "Born Again Krabs"

In "Born Again Krabs", when Mr. Krabs realizes he's awake, he loses his marbles and goes on a rampage, taking back everything he had previously given his customers for free. This includes free toys, free refills, and free movies that had not even aired in the theaters yet.

He even almost tears a fish's arm off for one cent. His little display of parsimonious penny-pinching earns him an eternal spot in Davy Jones' locker. But before the Flying Dutchman takes Mr. Krabs, SpongeBob yells, "Wait just a burger-flippin' second!" "Who dares backsass the Flying Dutchman?!" "That would be me! SpongeBob BacksassPants!" And then, we all know how it plays out because we've seen it a hundred million times before.

It is SpongeBob's relentless gab that saves him; the fact that Mr. Krabs recants his reprehensible decision has nothing to do with it.
10. Season 1: In "Squeaky Boots", Pearl is highly disappointed with her stingy father's birthday gift. How did Mr. Krabs try to justify buying her the boots?

Answer: By telling her he got them for a bargain

The opening scene of "Squeaky Boots" is one of the all-time greatest Mr. Krabs and Pearl together scenes. It starts of with Mr. Krabs singing to his daughter. It is unknown what age Pearl turns in the episode, but we know it younger than sixteen thanks to "Whale of a Birthday". Pearl is excited when her father gives her his gift, believing it to be the new Flipper Slippers all of her young friends are wearing.

She enthusiastically cheers, "Oh, you shouldn't have! Yay! You shouldn't have!" However, upon discovering what it really is, she angrily says: "I mean, Dad! You really shouldn't have!" Mr. Krabs then tells her they are the finest fishing boots available. Pearl then cries, "Dad! You've ruined me!" Mr. Krabs then tries to console her by telling her: "But I got 'em for a bargain!" Mr. Krabs doesn't always know the right thing to say at the right time, for this only makes her crying worse.

In fact, it makes it so much worse, the house rumbles!
11. Season 2: In "Your Shoe's Untied", what was presumed to be the five letter word for happiness?

Answer: Money

Mr. Krabs is seen on the John filling out a crossword. In the 1950's, you could not show a toilet on TV, let alone show a character sitting on one. Mr. Krabs would later be seen on the Loo in "Band Geeks". I guess Mr. Krabs is a big, fat crab and has to go number two sometimes. What else would Mr. Krabs equate to happiness other than money? Interestingly, another five letter word he may have used to fill out the crossword puzzle is "Pearl". Mr. Krabs loves Pearl, but he loves money more.
12. Season 3: In "Wet Painters", Mr. Krabs gets SpongeBob and Patrick extremely excited when he tells them about the chore he plans to give them. Only one of the following quotations is correct. It has the adjectives used by Mr. Krabs in the correct order. Which is it?

Answer: "Now, are you men ready for yer... Super... Special... Secret... Assignment?!"

Mr. Krabs is heard humming "Blow the Man Down". One famous other well-known example of this sea shanty being sung on "SpongeBob SquarePants" would be the end of "I Was a Teenage Gary". Mr. Krabs' first dollar famously appears in "Wet Painters". It would later appear years later "Friend or Foe", where we finally find out how he earned it.
13. Season 1: From "Pizza Delivery", what did Mr. Krabs make the first Krabby Patty Pizza out of?

Answer: Krabby Patties

In "Pizza Delivery", Mr. Krabs eyes turns to dollar signs when a customer calls up and orders pizza. There are two problems: The Krusty Krab neither servers pizza nor delivers. But Mr. Krabs doesn't care. He takes a plate of Krabby Patties and swirls them together with his claw, and somehow turns it into a pizza. Where did the pepperoni and mushrooms come from? I'd rather not know; it's more fun being a mystery. One of the possible choices, crackers and catsup, was what Mr. Krabs tried to pass a pizza to Pearl for her slumber party in "The Slumber Party". Tom, the customer at the end of the episode, supposedly ordered a Diet Dr. Kelp.

There are a few possible reasons as to why SpongeBob and Squidward knew nothing about. It could be Mr. Krabs either did not hear him say it on the phone, or hung up before he said it.

It is also possible he forgot to order it, but thought he did. In either case, poor SpongeBob had no fault in him. Tom was later revealed to be a raging psychotic in "Chocolate with Nuts". That is too bad for the Bikini Bottomites, for Tom is seen in the background as much if not more than all the other fish.
14. Season 2: In "The Jellyfish Hunter", what word did Mr. Krabs keep screaming over and over again?

Answer: "More!"

The grotesque image of Mr. Krabs during one of the times he yelled "More!" became very popular on YouTube videos for some reason (a la "That's Mama Luigi to you, Mario!". This marks the first and possibly the final appearance of Old No Name (who SpongeBob finally named "Friend" at the end).

The world does not see the likes of him (a blue jellyfish) again until "The Pink Purloiner". Perhaps Friend was among them. SpongeBob's jellyfish-net, Ol' Reliable, was mistakenly referred to as "Old Faithful" by Nickelodeon Magazine many years ago.
15. Season 3: At the climax of "The Bully", Flatts the Flounder attempts to kick SpongeBob's butt. SpongeBob doesn't get hurt, for he absorbs his blows as though he is made of some sort of spongy material. When they finally make it back to class, Flatts is so worn out from hopelessly attempting to beat the living daylights out of SpongeBob that all it takes is one punch from SpongeBob to completely level Flatts to the ground.

Answer: False

Flatts the Flounder is among the most vile and changeless characters ever to appear on "SpongeBob". It can truly be said that Flatts is a flat character (in every way possible). Flatts started off as a mere background character on the show. His first appearance was in "Sandy's Rocket", where he was caught in one of the nets.

He later appeared in "Texas" at the Krusty Krab during Sandy's party. His final and most memorable appearance just goes without saying, so it will not be said. That is the legacy of Flatts the Flounder.

He appeared in two episodes from the first season, and one from the third. The three episodes he appeared in aired in 1999, 2000, and 2001. He was voiced by Tom Wilson of "Back to the Future" fame as 1950s teenager bully Biff. Mr. Wilson even portrayed another important role on "SBSP": Remember Reg from "No Weenies Allowed"? So anyway, lets get back to "The Bully".

As most people will remember, Flatts passed out from exhaustion at the end of the episode from days of attacking SpongeBob in vain. SpongeBob did not need to lay a finger on him (nor did he ever intend to).
