Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Huggy Bear, Harold Dobey

Answer: Starsky and Hutch

"Starsky and Hutch" was a crime drama starring David Soul as Ken "Hutch" Hutchinson and Paul Michael Glaser as Dave Starsky, both police detectives in fictional Bay City, Ca. They drove their beat in a red Ford Grand Torino and relied on their informant "Huggy" Bear (Antonio Fargas) for most of their leads. Their supervisor on the police force was Capt. Dobey (Bernie Hamilton).
2. Whitey Whitney, Clarence Rutherford, Judy Hensler

Answer: Leave It to Beaver

"LITB" was a sit-com centered on the Cleaver family. Most of the plots involved the problems that the two sons, Wally (Tony Dow) and Theodore "Beaver" (Jerry Mathers) had growing up and learning important life lessons. Whitey (Stanley Fafara) was one of Beaver's friends in elementary school. Clarence "Lumpy" Rutherford (Frank Bank) was a friend of Wally's.

In the first two seasons, Jeri Weil played Judy Hensler, a smug elementary school student who was always trying to be the teacher's pet by snitching on other students in Miss Landers' class.
3. Mike Morton, Hank Stanley, Chet Kelly

Answer: Emergency!

"Emergency!" was an action/medical drama that focused on the L.A. Paramedics of Station 51. Roy DeSoto (Kevin Tighe) and John Gage (Randolph Mantooth) risked life and limb every episode to rescue people in dangerous, bizarre or humorous circumstances. If needed, the patients were transported to Rampart Hospital to receive further treatment.

At the hospital, usually Dr. Kelly Brackett (Robert Fuller), Dr. Joe Early (Bobby Troup) or Dr. Mike Morton (Ron Pinkhard) would treat the victims with the able assistance of nurse Dixie McCall (Julie London). Also on hand at Station 51 were Captain Hank Stanley (Mike Norell) and fireman Chet Kelly (Tim Donnelly).
4. Crazy Cat, Hannibal Dobbs, Jane Angelica Thrift

Answer: F Troop

"F Troop" was a facetious western where all the action centered on the military post of Fort Courage. There, Sgt. O'Rourke (Forrest Tucker) ran an illegal Native American souvenir business with his partners Cpl. Agarn (Larry Storch) and Chief Wild Eagle (Frank deKova). O'Rourke was constantly trying to keep his activities from being discovered by the new commander, Capt. Parmenter (Ken Berry). Jane Angelica Thrift, better known as Wrangler Jane (Melody Patterson), romantically pursued the new but clueless captain. Crazy Cat (Don Diamond) was Wild Eagle's right-hand man and Hannibal Dobbs (James Hampton) was the fort's inept bugler.
5. Bill Hawks, Charlie Wooster, Duke Shannon

Answer: Wagon Train

"Wagon Train" was a long-running western involving settlers heading west to California and enduring all the imaginable hardships. In its seven seasons, it experienced many cast changes, most prominently that of Ward Bond who was the original wagon master, Seth Adams, when Bond unexpectedly passed away during the fourth season. Bill Hawks (Terry Wilson) was the assistant wagon master and stayed for the entire series. Charlie Wooster (Frank McGrath) was the cook and Duke Shannon (Scott Miller) replaced the character Flint McCullough (Robert Horton) as the train's scout.
6. Chatsworth Osborne, Jr., Zelda Gilroy, Leander Pomfritt

Answer: The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis

Dobie (Dwayne Hickman) was a girl-chasing "clean teen" who sometimes talked his problems out with his best friend, beatnik Maynard G. Krebs (Bob Denver). Dobie had a wide assortment of friends and other acquaintances in his high school. Chatsworth (Steve Franken) was the snobby rich kid always trying to steal girlfriends away from Dobie with great displays of his wealth and social standing. Zelda (Shelia James) was a plain-looking, brainy, female always out to snag Dobie. Mr. Pomfritt (William Schallert) was one of Dobie's teachers.
7. Ichabod Mudd, Aristotle Jones

Answer: Captain Midnight

"Captain Midnight" started out as a radio serial which transitioned into TV in 1954. It starred Richard Webb as the intrepid hero leading his Secret Squadron and fighting evil-doers on a global scale. On hand was Ichabod "Icky" Mudd (Sid Melton) a somewhat bumbling sidekick and Professor Aristotle "Tut" Jones (Olan Soule), Midnight's scientist/inventor friend.
8. Joe Randolph, Wally Plumstead, "Thorny" Thornberry

Answer: The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet

This incredibly long-running family sit-com (1952 - 66) centered on the real-life Nelson Family - father Ozzie, mother Harriet and the two boys - David and Ricky. Ozzie Nelson was, in real life, a bandleader and Harriet (nee Hilliard) was a singer in his orchestra. Ricky became a teen heartthrob and had his own entertainment career before it was tragically cut short in a plane crash on New Year's Eve 1985.

In the series, the Nelsons lived in a suburban neighborhood populated with the usual comic neighbors offering counterproductive advice with the Nelson's problems.

Included in these were "Thorny" Thornberry (Don DeFore) and Joe Randolph (Lyle Talbot). One of Ricky's and David's friends was Wally Plumstead (Skip Young).
9. Arthur Tragg, Paul Drake, Steve Drumm

Answer: Perry Mason

Mason (Raymond Burr) was a crackerjack defense attorney working in Los Angeles. The rarely defeated lawyer had a very capable staff including his smart, efficient secretary, Della Street (Barbara Hale) and his own P.I., Paul Drake (William Hopper). Lt. Tragg (Ray Collins) was Perry's adversary on the L.A. police force in the first 5 seasons and filmed his last episode, "The Case of the Capering Camera" in October of 1963. Even though Collins did not appear for the rest of that season, he continued to be given billing in the show's credits. During this time, Wesley Lau filled in as the investigating officer, Lt. Anderson.

In the final season, Richard Anderson was featured as police lieutenant, Steve Drumm, with whom Perry often locked horns.
10. Grady Wilson, Aunt Ethel, Julio Fuentes

Answer: Sanford and Son

Fred Sanford (Redd Foxx) was a widower who ran a salvage/junkyard in East L.A. with his only son, Lamont (Demond Wilson). The comedy stemmed from the relationship problems of stubborn, opinionated Fred and the ambitious, progressive Lamont. Both men had a roster of friends, neighbors and relatives. Aunt Ethel (Beah Richards), Fred's sister-in-law, would drop in from time to time to rattle Fred's cage since she was as obstinate and abrasive as he was. Grady Wilson (Whitman Mayo) was Fred's friend as Julio Fuentes (Gregory Sierra) was Lamont's.
