The Doctor starts with apples. Indeed, his first line to Amelia Pond is, "Have you got any apples?" He spits the apple out and declares apples "rubbish." He tosses the bread and butter on the front lawn and yells, "And stay out!" After spitting out the beans, he claims that "Beans are evil. Bad, bad beans." The Doctor also rejects carrots (before even eating them), yogurt, and fried bacon.

In the real world, there has been "Doctor Who" yogurt and beans. Yoplait marketed a "Doctor Who" related version of Go-gurt in 2007, and Crosse and Blackwell marketed "Doctor Who" beans during the Tom Baker years.

Answer: Jammie Dodgers

Jammie Dodgers have come up in at least four episodes. Their most spectacular appearance is the Doctor convincing a group of Daleks that the jam-filled cookie is actually a TARDIS self-destruct device ("Victory of the Daleks"). He asks President Nixon for Jammie Dodgers in "The Impossible Astronaut" and asks Alex about the cookies in "Night Terrors". The Doctor also makes a plate of Jammie Dodgers for Clara in "The Bells of Saint John".
Jammie Dodgers are manufactured by Burton's Biscuit Company and have been part of British culture for over fifty years.

The omelet consists of eggs, cheese, butter, peppers, ham and mayonnaise. Craig says the omelet is the most enjoyable thing he has ever tasted. Cooking and playing soccer are two skills we discover the Doctor has in this episode.

Yorkshire pudding is made from flour, eggs and milk. It is a popular savoury dish. "Pudding yet savoury. Sound familiar?" explains the Doctor. Toad in the hole is similar but contains sausage. Black pudding is a blood pudding, and spotted dick is suet pudding with fruit and custard.

Answer: Scones

Scones are a quick bread which can be either savoury or sweet. They are traditionally made of wheat or barley. Scones are a traditional part of English Tea. The Doctor briefly mentions scones to Amy in "The Wedding of River Song".

Answer: banana

The Doctor is quite resourceful at disarming his enemies. He replaces River's gun with a banana. The banana is in a fruit bowl in Adolf Hitler's office. Hitler liked fruit - who knew? The bowl also contains grapes, but having River point grapes at the Doctor would be silly.

Answer: Kendal Mint Cake

Kendal Mint Cakes are a type of energy bar that come from the Lake District. They are very popular with hikers and mountain climbers. Indeed, Sir Edmund Hillary ate them on the first successful ascent of Mount Everest. Sir Ernest Shackleton took them to Antarctica.

The cakes come from Kendal, in Cumbria and are made of sugar, glucose and peppermint. The three main manufacturers of mint cakes are Romney's, Wilson's and Quiggin's. The first cakes were made in 1880.

"You haven't just got a degree in cheese-making or something?" asks Rita (Amara Karan). "Both actually," replies the Doctor. Fromology is the scientific study of cheeses. Zmurgy is the science of fermentation. Oenology is the science of making wine. Herbology is the study of herbs.

The exchange about jam and time-space takes place on Clara's first real trip out into the universe in "The Rings of Akhaten". For the record, time is made out of "wibbley-wobbley timey-wimey" stuff, not strawberries.

Shortly after his regeneration, the Doctor finally settles on fish fingers dipped in custard as his food of choice. The food becomes an important symbol in the relationship between Amy Pond and the Doctor ("The Impossible Astronaut" and "Let's Kill Hitler"). The Doctor, Amy and Rory all eat fish custard in "The Power of Three".

In "The Eleventh Hour" the "fish fingers" that Matt Smith eats are actually coconut cookies. The actor did wind up eating the real thing on "The Graham Norton Show", a popular BBC interview program. "Fish fingers and custard" actually became a meme on YouTube, with "Doctor Who" fans taping themselves eating the strange combination.
