quiz
Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Bart and Lisa decide to write scripts for which of their favourite cartoon shows?

Answer: Itchy and Scratchy

"Itchy and Scratchy" can be seen on the "Krusty the Klown" show, which is on at 4pm every afternoon. They see one terrible episode and realise that they can write better material than that.
2. Homer tells Marge his terrible secret that he 'ate the fancy soaps' she bought for the bathroom. What secret did he actually mean to tell?

Answer: He never graduated from high school

He never passed Remedial Science 1A. Marge says 'That still doesn't explain why you ate my soaps... ah, maybe it does.' Homer decides to complete the course at night school so he can be a qualified nuclear technician.
3. What is the name of the first script that Bart and Lisa write?

Answer: The Little Barber Shop of Horrors

It involves Itchy giving Scratchy a haircut but turns violent. Bart got the idea for the setting after seeing Homer accidentally cut Marge's hair off when he was hedge-trimming.
4. The script is rejected at first, so Lisa and Bart decide to put a grown-up's name on it instead of their own. Grampa tells them his name is Abraham after checking the label on which item of his clothing?

Answer: Underwear

He manages to take off his underwear without removing his pants. Bart and Lisa are amazed that he can do that.
5. Is Grampa offered an ongoing job writing cartoons?

Answer: Yes

Roger Meyers Jr. offers him work and says he is much better than the other writers who have Harvard degrees. Lisa and Bart convince him to keep the job and split the money three ways (Lisa and Bart of course write the scripts and give them to Grampa to hand in).
6. Homer's teacher for Remedial Science 1A is Mr. Dondelinger. What position did he hold at Springfield High when Homer and Marge attended during their teenage years?

Answer: Principal

He says in the first lesson that he is teaching the class to fill the void in his life after his wife died. Homer is only taking the class to win back his 'Most Improved Odour' trophy!
7. Grampa is nominated for the 'Outstanding Writing in A Cartoon Series' award. Who presents the award with Krusty?

Answer: Brooke Shields

Brooke Shields and Krusty present the award. Krusty makes a bad joke about Brooke being from the movie "Blue Lagoon" and that he (Krusty) is a 'blue-haired goon'. He also states that the joke is terrible because his hair is green, not blue.
8. Does Grampa win the award for 'Outstanding Writing in A Cartoon Series'?

Answer: Yes

He wins for the first episode Bart and Lisa wrote, "The Little Barber Shop of Horrors". The other nominees in the category were "Strondar, Master of Vacom: the Wedding Episode", "Action Figure Man: the How to Buy Action Figure Man Episode" and "Ren and Stimpy: Season Premiere". Grampa sees the clip of "Itchy and Scratchy", doesn't like it, and promptly says so in his acceptance speech.
9. Homer passes his test and tells Marge that at their next high school reunion, he won't have anything to be ashamed of. Flash-forward to their 50th reunion in 2024, and what does Homer have stuck to his head?

Answer: A plunger

Earlier in this episode he also had a plunger stuck to his head.
10. At the end of the episode, there is a short feature starring which character from "The Simpsons"?

Answer: Ned Flanders

The show is called "The Adventures of Ned Flanders", and the episode is Ned Flanders in: "Love That God". It details Rod and Todd not wanting to go to church because it is Saturday. The theme song has a lady singing: 'Hens love roosters, geese love ganders, everyone else loves Ned Flanders!' Homer interrupts with 'Not me!' and the lady continues 'Everyone who counts loves Ned Flanders!' Thanks for playing!
